Yeah that's why I mentioned -- didn't want you to not be prepared and then freak out because they are very intimidating looking and scary looking at first. Until you realize they are the good guys lol. They come in with assault rifles like balls to the wall so just to prepare you a little. 
Thanks!! Doesn't look like they are doing that today. Santa is back out and everything.

Oh good!!! BEST CASE SCENARIO when they are able to swiftly get the criminal and people can go about enjoying their holiday. Thank God it wasn't an active shooter -- it is a sad day when you are relieved that it was "JUST AN ARMED BURGLAR" vs. a lunatic with a death wish and a rifle!

it was a nightmare trying to leave... was supposed to work till 1, but decided to stay later.. at 1:15 they (macys) called for an evacuation....
was stuck for a good 45 minutes trying to go home..
aggravating to say the least

Possible Shots fired @ Macy's Roosevelt field?
My co-worker's husband is a cop and he said the headache they're dealing with today is trying to track all the items that were dropped to the people that dropped them. I'm guessing a lot of packages were swiped by people that saw the opportunity - so I don't know how they'll deal with the people that paid for items but don't have them.
He also said there will be a press conference some time today that will give out more details (name of the suspect, etc).

Presser is going to be at 11:30am. The subject will be arraigned around 12pm. The information on that will be released, depending on the news outlet, as it goes -- some are better than others. The newsday website and such will update sooner. Some broadcasts won't have a full story and edit until like the afternoon time.
And yeah, from what I heard, people just threw their belongings about and RAN for their lives because they didn't know if it was an active shooter situation. You hear gunfire and bam - run. So, I can't imagine that must be easy trying to reunite people with their belongings. Oh boy!
Suspect's name is Oliver Lee.
