I tend to wonder if this is a marketing ploy by Starbucks to sort of get some publicity, b/c I haven't heard of a single real life person who actually cares about this even in the smallest measure.

Me too.
And look at this- they actually have an ADVENT CALENDEAR that they sell in Starbucks- and that is Christmas in it's purest, most Christian form.
So I am not getting it

If you go to Starbucks FB page you will find several people complaining about the cups... At least the other day you could... not sure if people are still posting to them...

Best thing I have read on FB ( Starbucks cup

I just don't get it.... Christmas trees, snow men, stars have zero reference in Christianity anyway. To me they signify winter and shopping. There were no evergreens with tinsel and lights in baby Jesus's manger. The fact they were booted doesn't offend me as a catholic at all. So not relevant to the true meaning of Christmas.

If anything is considered "Christian" it is being taken away, or downplayed. If you do not want to celebrate, don't, but I will continue to say Merry Christmas and In God We Trust till I die cause that's the way it always was, and I will NEVER play into this PC accept everyone and anyone. There are a lot of other religions and nationalities that stick to themselves, follow their own beliefs, and don't mess with anyone outside of that, and they are not chastised. It's White Christians, we are the devil.

I couldn't disagree more.

I was at the PTA meeting for my son's school last night. There was a consultant there showing us some new program the kids were using and when she was done, she specifically said "everyone have a happy holiday."

When she said it I thought of the other thread and how some people would think she was being "PC" but I viewed it another way. I thought she was being inclusive. And I thought it was so nice, because I live in a pretty diverse district, and it would be a safe bet to say there were some non Christians in the crowd.

By all means, if you know someone is a Christian, wish them a Merry Christmas. But if you're not sure, why assume? Because it's your holiday? Because it's the majority? I don't get it.

It's not about being PC. It's about not making an assumption. It's about the fact that if there are two ways to say something and one is inclusive and one isn't, why choose the latter?

I am just so glad our country is moving in the opposite direction from what you describe. Like with marriage equality being law of the land. I love that some people are finally starting to embrace others' differences in ways that didn't exist when I was a child.

Thank you! While I never get offended by someone saying "Merry Christmas," I really appreciate "Happy Holidays" because I feel that it is inclusive and includes my celebration of Hannukah (and it also includes the New Year). I never get offended or correct people if they assume I celebrate Christmas with a greeting --- I will usually say the same back. I see it as recognizing that we are a very diverse nation and that not everyone may celebrate the one big holiday of the season.

I will never, ever understand why people find "happy holidays" so offensive. It's a nice sentiment, and it does not assume everyone celebrates Christmas, because guess what? Not everyone celebrates Christmas! Chat Icon

Plus I'm sick of it being said our country is changing. No actually the country was founded on religious freedom, so we should accept and honor all religions.

In case anyone's interested, one of our (very young) parish priests made this short video. Talks about how we're more passionate about what we hate/disagree with than what we love/believe.
