Best thing I have read on FB ( Starbucks cup "controversy" related)

I didn't want to bump the 400 page post about the RF Glacier Santa. ..better to let that bad boy drop down and die off Chat Icon
But while scrolling my news feed someone I know "liked" this status. It was by a news personality out in LA from what I can gather.
And it is perfect.

Happy Monday!
I'm sipping on my daily @Starbucks latte (Non-fat, two Equal stirred in, please) while reading about this latest cup controversy. Apparently by holding this red cup, I a weekly church going, animal rescuing, child-mentoring, helper-of-little-old-ladies-across-the-street girl am waging a war on my favorite holiday: Christmas! All because this cup has no snowman or snow or sprinkles or something like that.
Really?!?
You know what offends me?
Child abusers. Those guys whose name I shall not mention who are beheading people. People who blow themselves up in the middle of a market or place of worship. Animal abusers like the monster who poured acid on a couple of dogs here in SoCal. Those scammers who swindle seniors on the phone. Or in person. Liars, cheats, criminals.
Those who hurt others.
Yup that offends me plenty. Everyday. The red cup? Nah. It's a CUP!
Want to do something Christmasy or Christian? Buy someone a cup of coffee. Volunteer. Donate. Buy a needy child a gift. Be a good person. That's what the spirit is all about. Now back to my latte....

Another really stupid thing to get upset about. I wish a red cup was the only thing in my life that causes me grief. My life would be pretty damn near perfect then.

Ellen posted a funny video about it too!

But now people are getting mad that Christians are getting bashed over it. I haven't seen anyone in my feed upset about the cups. But if you go to Starbucks page there are tons of posts from people complaining about it.

Yep.

It's mind boggling, the nonsense.

But I learned something important: If Donald Trump becomes President we're all going to be saying "Merry Christmas" again.

The most devout Christians I know concern themselves with others' feelings and disagree with "Merry Christmas" as a default for 2 months.

They believe that if you don't know who you're talking to, you don't assume they're Christian. They believe in inclusion. They know they're a solid majority in this country and they're not so insecure as to force the whole world to pretend they're the only people in this country.

In short, they're mature, healthy, and well-adjusted.

Am I the only one who thinks the cup looks more Christmasy then ever, since the cup is red and their logo is green????? They never had Christmas scenes on cups anyway that I can remember. As I just saw on FB, I'm offended that there is not Dunkin Donuts in my red Starbucks cup! lol

I like the red cup. It looks clean and festive with their green logo. I'm a minimalist.

YES!

I read this post on FB as well and love it.

I almost replied to the other thread a few times and ultimately never did because it just deteriorated so severely. It wasn't worth my time. It wasn't worth anyone's time.

I don't mean that in a self righteous way; we are all entitled to mindless chitchat and light banter to an extent.

But when I see what people will get worked up about and go on and on about...and argue and insult people over...I don't get it. I really don't.

Get a job. Volunteer. Read a book.

I think they had snowflakes and ornaments in the past, which is very much found in the bible. So by removing those from their cups, its no longer associated with Christmas. Although I could have sworn Red and Green have always been colors associated with Christmas.

My sister in law is the Vice President of Global Creative for Starbucks for all of North and South America as well as Canada.

I texted her the other night to tell her thanks for causing all this hoopla with your red cup decision this season. Her response 'I'm the grinch' lmao

We got a good laugh over the first world problem this truly is.

IMO, Starbucks is overpriced. They probably got a deal on a plain red cup without a design, so more money in their pocket this season.

As far as the Christmas thing goes, I was at RF before all the glacier hype, and it didn't even prompt a thought in my head that they were taking Christmas away, Santa was there. My daughter was so happy to see Santa. We sat right next to the display for an hour watching a fashion show, and I still didn't say, hey where are the trees.

BUT

If anything is considered "Christian" it is being taken away, or downplayed. If you do not want to celebrate, don't, but I will continue to say Merry Christmas and In God We Trust till I die cause that's the way it always was, and I will NEVER play into this PC accept everyone and anyone. There are a lot of other religions and nationalities that stick to themselves, follow their own beliefs, and don't mess with anyone outside of that, and they are not chastised. It's White Christians, we are the devil.

But I think what bothers me is that Santa is not a Christian Symbol. An ornament on a red Starbucks cup or a snowflake or whatever they used to have on there (honestly I don't know, I don't pay attention to cups) is not a Christian symbol
A Christmas tree is not a religious Christian symbol
If you want Christian symbols of Christmas, than the malls should have nativity scenes. Advent Wreaths . Baby Jesus. Wise Men on the Starbucks cups.
Christian Christmas- in it's PUREST form- the type of Christmas you see in CHURCH- has been gone from our society for YEARS
Way before the Santa Glacier or the Starbucks Red cups

I tend to wonder if this is a marketing ploy by Starbucks to sort of get some publicity, b/c I haven't heard of a single real life person who actually cares about this even in the smallest measure.

I think it would be hard to find a real life person offended by this who could be taken seriously.

On here sometimes, it's hard to tell who's being serious & who's got to be kidding.

Me too.
And look at this- they actually have an ADVENT CALENDEAR that they sell in Starbucks- and that is Christmas in it's purest, most Christian form.
So I am not getting it
