RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes
I am throwing my girlfriend a baby shower on Saturday. I have a minimum of 30 at the restaurant.
So I sent out 55 invites. I figured I would end up with about 35/40.
I have 22. But the worst part and what's making me insane??????????
20 people did not even bother to RSVP. 20 of the 55 invites.
People are a$$holes.
Rant. Over.

Oh, I remember the days of people not responding during my wedding planning - I do NOT understand why they can't respond. Makes no sense to me.

I know how you feel, I just had an RSVP date come and go and had to chase down people. I don't get what is so hard about just sending a text even.

Re: RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes
When was the RSVP date? I am assuming it passed, since the shower is Saturday.
I am sitting on an invite right now--the rsvp date is the 8th, but I got the invite a week ago. I don't want to go, but I feel like we are socially obligated to, so I am struggling with that & that's why I am a late RSVP'er. I will decided by the deadline though.

RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes
I HATE being invited to things and quite frankly when I get an invite it usually just ends up in a big pile of stuff and I forget about it because when I get the invite its not a priority for me at that moment. I would never show up to an event if I didn't RSVP that I was going and I usually only attend things for immediate family. In my opinion (and I know I am probably the only one that thinks this way) you are the one throwing the event, just because I am invited doesn't make me responsible if I forget to RSVP no. Honestly its really an inconvenience to me to have to call someone just to tell them I am not planning on attending. The last time I did it, I got an attitude from the host.

You are RUDE. Most people provide emails or have text messaging today for RSVPing. You cannot be THAT busy that you can't write a 2 second email.

It wasn't intentional, people get busy and forget. Its not the end of the world. I could understand being pissed off if you left several messages and still not received a response.

Yeah it's safe to say you're the only one that thinks that way. How awful that people inconvenience you because they like you and want you to share in their special events. This one really has me
Did you ever stop to think about how much of an inconvenience it is for the person throwing the party or event to have to guess if you are coming or not, or possibly assume that you are coming and PAY for you, and then be out the money? All because you are too inconvenienced to make a two minute phone call or send a two second email or text?

You are RUDE. People are taking the time to invite you to things you can take the minute to say no. Wow, you got an attitude one time text a no or fb no. I hope you aren't teaching your kids this as there is something called manners and it's obviously something you lack at least in this department.

You are an extremely rude and self absorbed person.
I find it beyond rude not to RSVP to an event. No one is that busy to make a quick call, text or email to respond.
Also if people don't respond to events I invite them to I never invite them again.

Re: RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes
That's a lot and I don't blame you for being pissed. In this day when you can offer email, text and phone as options for RSVP'ing (and even if you didn't offer all three, it's still rude) there is really no excuse.
When I was in college a friend once lectured me about how she found my manners a bit lacking. Fast forward 15 or so years to when I invited her kid to my DD's birthday and guess what? No RSVP. I found it amusing but also annoying.

Exactly this! This is my policy for all future events. I hate it when people don't RSVP. Even worse is when they RSVP late with a "yes" and then don't bother showing up. I have a couple family members that do this every time so I just stopped inviting them to holidays and parties.

With that attitude I wouldn't inconvenience myself by sending you an invite in the first place.

Agreed. If you already know you don't want to go then I don't see the big deal in sending a quick text, then throw the invite out. Having hosted parties where people don't RSVP, this irks me.

The thing is, I wont. I don't know any of these people and I would have to get a list from the mom and dad. and call, and harass.
I don't have time for that.
I just wish we had a lot of people at the party for her, KWIM?
