After struggling with infertility for years we were lucky enough to get DS after IVF#2. I never went on BC after I had him bc, well, literally years of not using it and trying and trying I was never able to get PG. I got a BFP this morning. Literally, shocked!

I work in Finance and this afternoon I had an interview, 3rd and last round. An old boss of mine really put her neck on the line for me to get this job. This last interview went great, they basically told me I got it and we will start training soon etc etc.

DH told me to just take it and not say anything. It’s still early, I haven’t even seen a doctor. I feel like if I take it knowing I am going out on leave will make my old boss look bad. However, these opportunities do not come across easily anymore. She’s someone that is easy to talk to, but not on a personal level. I feel so torn because I really want this new position but I also don’t want to disappoint anyone? WWYD?

I would take it. Some people may not even know they are pregnant until 6 weeks. Wouldn't even give it a second thought!!!

Take the job...you being pregnant SHOULD NOT have an effect on whether it's offered to you or not but we both know that it will if they know.

Keep your mouth shut and take it if you want it.

Good luck!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Definitely take it. You could have not even known you were pregnant and taken the job. Go for it and let them know when you really have to. Good luck!

Are you planning on still working after the birth of your second child? If yes than absolutely take it. You earned it and deserve it. Just because your having a child doesn't change that. If you plan on leaving work for good then I would not accept the job as I think that would be unfair to all and you don't want to burn bridges.

Take it. You are so early that when you do come out just tell them you didn't know you were pregnant and it's the truth.

Congrats on your BFP. I always love hearing stories like yours

Re: WWYD

I would take it!

I hope when our kids grow up, it's in a country where women's rights extend to never feeling guilty about making work vs. Family choices.

Happy and healthy 9 mos to you!

If it were any other industry I would say just go for it and don't even think about it. Finance, ugh. It's so early you really can't and should not say anything yet. Take the job, absolutely! When it comes time to tell your boss, tell her the truth and that you were shocked Chat Icon congrats!! Chat Icon

While I would probably take it, I would honestly be a bit nervous-doesn't fmla not apply until you've been there a year? Will you be entitled to any maternity leave? What about appointments/missing work?

Just a thought. How long do you need to be there for maternity leave? Some companies it's at least a year.

My job was unpaid 12 week leave anyway. I'd find that out if you could, although casually not to raise red flags

Congrats! I love these type of stories!

Take it! Its so early so I wouldn't worry about that now. If it comes up you had no idea you were pregnant when you accepted the job offer and were quite surprised. I didn't tell my job until I was 5 months pregnant. GL
