Are you FB friends with your immediate coworkers?
I just rejoined FB in June. So far so good lol. I have a lot of friends that I never see IRL (high school and relatives). I am a fairly private person and also a bit mistrusting. Wondering if I should friend my immediate team? Benefit would be the obvious so we can see each other's pics since we know a lot of what is going on in our personal lives. I think 3 of the newer team members are friends on FB and also text a lot etc outside of work. Me and another coworker have been working in the dept longer so the team of 5 is a bit divided.
I do not manage any of them however I am the only one that has a manager title.

The coworkers that I'm very friendly with I'm friends with on FB with, the rest of my coworkers no thanks. It's also hard for them to find me on FB cause I use my maiden name on FB so they can't find me

Nope. Only one coworker is on FB and he is blocked. I don't want him seeing anything.

I only friend people after I don't work with them any longer. Don't need to vent about something and it get to someone in the office that shouldn't see/hear it.

Yes, but not everyone in my office. Only the few people who I regularly have lunch with and sometimes we gossip about other attorneys we deal with in court, so its easier for us to vent about it over FB than at work..
If there is anything truly private I dont want to share with co-workers, I simply modify my audience when I post. Thats whats great about the Custom Friends list - just add/delete people as you need for specific albums/posts. Problem solved.

At a past just job I was but not at my current job that I have been at since last October. I know that many of the people I work with are all FB friends but I decided I did t want to go there.

Yes, the ones I'm close with. And my boss actually, but we had worked together for years and were friendly before she was my boss. I almost never go on FB though, so it's even less of a big deal.

For a myriad of reasons. The work environment is not what it was just a few years ago. People are backstabbing and gossiping to the bosses.
I do not use my real name on FB.
I've search and deliberately blocked many co-workers just to be on the safe side. Many have friends that have posts/pictures/etc. that could be viewed as "guilt by association".
I have the highest privacy settings but you never know.
There was some recent drama about coworkers and posting on FB... really inappropriate, that was the motivation for the actions I described above.

I unfriended people from my previous job if I was just coworkers (not friends IRL). At my current job, I had just moved to town and friended 2 people I work with, but now I wish I could unfriend them. I just don't feel I can without causing an issue in person. (I only want to unfriend them b/c I'm not friends with them IRL and it's awkward knowing they can see my personal stuff - even though I never vent about work). I'll never friend people I work with in the future unless we become good friends.
DH has 2 accounts - personal and professional (it's good to network in his line of work) so he friends most of his coworkers on his work acct.

Some of them yes, but we're friends in real life too. Even my supervisor, because she was my coworker for years before she became my supervisor and we're still very good friends. We have play dates with our daughters often.

i think it varies.
two jobs ago, i friended a total of 4 people. still friends on FB with them.
my current job: no
i have "manager" in my title, so i keep away from sharing anything they don't already know about me.

I have two FBs one for colleagues and one for family and friends. I have two or three work friends or colleagues that are my real friends on my personal FB.
