It is heart breaking. And I have heard the hunter used the lions GPS tracker (the lion was tagged for scientific research) in order to find and kill him. Just disgusting.

Yes, I saw that, too. They tracked the lion down, lured it with dead meat out of the park, put a spotlight on it, and then used a bow and arrow to kill him.

Wow, how brave of them. What a fair fight.
How can that even be considered "sport".
Sport would be to let the lion loose in a room with you and see who wins.
Scumbagss

yet he boasts that he "stalked"... please!!! He couldnt be anymore of a *****

How sporting!! I liked this article on Buzzfeed... even if let's pretend for a second that he did this all legally and didn't lure a protected lion off of protected grounds, he's still a pathetic coward who is probably just trying to make up for his micropenis. I hope he gets locked up and has to pay another $50k to the conservation he poached from.

I hate hate HATE when some people say things like, "well, you know, these big game hunters really help conservation efforts b/c they pay huge amounts of $$ to hunt these endangered animals, and that $$ goes back into conservation." I DETEST that argument. Its like donating $$ to rape victims in exchange for the opportunity to rape someone w/out consequence. God I hate this fucker and everyone like him.

I am so disgusted with the human race. Between this guy and that other guy who killed that endangered rhino.
Not only did he kill the lion, but his cubs will be killed as well. Any new lion that enters a pride will kill the cubs because it is not his offspring.

Re: Cecil the Lion

I am so sick over this I could vomit. I am so nauseated inside.

I read that not only did they shoot it with a bow and arrow, but it took 40 hrs to die and they had to shoot it to actually kill it. And then they did worse that I don't want to write to you all.

I am so sad inside. Between this and the china korea dog meat events, I sometimes feel like I am going to crack thinking about these things and the torture to innocent animals.

This story is so incredibly upsetting to me. I'm glad that douche bag's dental practice closed down as a result of the backlash he's receiving for the horrific act he committed. I hope that the Zimbabwean government holds him responsible for his actions. I'm hoping for karma to rear her head......

\

Can we all do something to hold this guy accountable? There is a petition going around. Can everyone sign?

Cecil the Lion

The more details I hear about this the more sick to my stomach I get.

They shot him with a bow and arrow and followed him for a day injured. What a coward. Then they poached him out of the park with dead meat and finished him off and then skinned him.

And now even worse, he had Cubs who will likely be killed by whatever new male takes over the pride.

Real piece of sht. Oh and they tried to cut out the gps tracking device.

This!! It's disgusting enough that this asshole shot and killed an animal for no reason, but then to let it suffer???

And I wanna cry reading that even the Cubs will die... I didn't even think about something like that.. How awful Chat Icon

Is this assholee going to be charged at all?

I hope so and to the fullest extent of the law since this is not the first time he has hunted illegally. Now he's being "hunted" and had to go into hiding...guess it doesn't feel so good.

Exactly! I tried to "avoid" this story because it makes me so upset that I lose sleep over it. I know it's out there, but sometimes I wish I could bury my head in the sand to avoid knowing this kind of thing (not that I really think ignorance is bliss, but it is just so f*n upsetting)

I can't even...with this story. It makes me sick.
It's nice to see the hunter is not the hunted.
This guy needs to be in hiding because someone will take a bow & arrow to him.

And all the pictures posted of the other animals are just as sickening!

This guy is sick in the head, and the worst part is that you know he is only sorry he happened to injure (and then have someone else kill 40 hrs later) a famous lion instead of an anonymous lion. You know he still thinks he's hot $ hit and a big man for "trophy hunting" for "sport."

However, I read an interesting article about the bigger picture of poaching and the disappearance of wildlife in Zimbabwe. This one man is sick, but his opportunity to kill Cecil is a symptom of the larger problem.

http://time.com/3976344/cecil-lion-zimbabwe-walter-palmer/

"Zimbabwe was once celebrated as the “breadbasket of Africa,” whose fertile earth supplied the world with abundant tobacco, corn and wheat. Today, 76% of its rural population lives in abject poverty, dependent on foreign food aid and desperate measures — like the poaching of the wildlife that inhabits its otherwise barren lands, or rendering assistance to those who want to hunt or poach....

Until 2000 Zimbabwe had a successful wildlife-management program, with many big-game animals flourishing. But by 2003, a staggering 80% of the animals that had lived on Zimbabwean safari camps (which employed firm quotas to regulate animal population sizes) had died. By 2007, there were only 14 private game farms in the country, compared with 620 prior to the land seizures of 2000, according to a National Geographic report. With the protection of private game reserves nearly nonexistent, once abundant wildlife began dying off, hunted by desperate farmers with no other options for sustenance."

He must have the tiniest penis in the world if he has to kill a lion to make himself feel like a man. It's sick what he did, and how he did it.

The whole "sport" is disgusting.

He should be fed to a lion. There is no sport he and the others who participated are sick individuals who should rot in jail.

I agree. The money is crazy. If you take a look at the FB profile of the hunting safari this asshat went on, you'd see this happens way too often.

I don't think any petitions would actually help this situation. It's just so corrupt. I actually have a safari planned next year for this area, and I am reconsidering Zimbabwe (I have other countries planned).

Re: Cecil the Lion

Ok, I have to ask an honest question for anyone that consumes animal products and is outraged by Cecil's death:

Why isn't there an uproar over the torturing and murder of hundreds of thousands of pigs, cows, chickens, etc., every year? So many of the animals you eat every day have been mistreated and slaughtered. Why care so much about this one lion?

I love that karma has hit this ******* in his pocket and his dental practice is CLOSED!!! 55k to kill a helpless, majestic animal instead of donating it for kids with facial abnormalities or any other area to help people. He's a piece of cr$p!!!

I was waiting for this question to come up.

Plenty of people get outraged over this. PETA, vegatarians, Vegans. For me the outrage is about killing for sport. To get bragging rights and hang a head on your f'ing wall.
I see a huge difference between that and killing an animal to eat it.
And this one lion was suppose to be protected. What he did was illegal. In my eyes legal or illegal I think this sport is disgusting. And now he knows how it feels to be hunted.

I've been following the story and i'm glad this p o s is public enemy number one right now.

First off, i'm vegetarian so i totally get what you're saying. Second, I think people care so much because he is a unique being with a name and tremendous spotlight, he's famous. He was a beautiful cat. He was being studied. For the most part people don't really care about pigs/chickens/LAMBS/cows etc. They are a vast faceless nameless group that people prefer to not care about imo. And i'm a former meat eater.
