What's the Worst Age?
I keep hearing about the terrible twos AND threes AND fours. What did you find to be the worst age?
DD is going to be 15 mos this week and this past month has been awful. I've been pretty overwhelmed. She was sick twice in less than two weeks, the first time so badly, we ended up in the ER.
Illnesses notwithstanding, which I'm sure play a part in behavior, I feel like lately it's a lot of tantrums, crying, whining, crankiness. I know she's frustrated that she can't communicate the way she wants but if we say no or don't give her something she wants, oh boy! How do I deal with this? Is it the age? I've been losing my patience with her quite often and end up yelling and feel absolutely awful. DH has even said something to me about it.
I'm hoping this starts to get better soon, but if not, at least to better control my reactions. Advice? Thanks.

What's the Worst Age?
For me it was like 15-20 months. They're movile, have no fear, but can't really communicate what they want and are easily frustrated,
I know the twos are supposed to be terrible, but this year has been so much easier now that my son can tell me what he needs and I can reason with him.

Re: What's the Worst Age?
Physically exhausting: 16 months - there is no reasoning with them, they climb and are very unaware of danger.
Mentally: the beginning of 3. The tantrums

Re: What's the Worst Age?
I only have a 2.5 year old so I can't compare it to other ages, but by far the absolute worst time was between 1.5 year and 2. He was an absolute monster. Once he turned two I swear it was like a lightbulb turned on in his brain. He understands more and can communicate more. Onto the terrible 3s!!

What's the Worst Age?
My dd was a perfect little angel 95% of the time and literally she woke up on her second bday and has been a crank for the past two months. Quick to get mad, whiny, not so easily distracted or about to redirect, whiny, and needs to have her way ASAP. And did I mention whiny? It grates on my nerves. I fear for the future.

Re: What's the Worst Age?
My ds is about the same age as yours (15 months) and he is just as you described... cranky, whining all the time, fussy when he doesn't get his way. I end up yelling at him all the time too (I think sometimes he's scared of me). I guess it's the age since they can't communicate much yet. I don't know what the solution is but you're not alone!

Re: What's the Worst Age?
For my older DS, it was 2.5 to 3 years old. Total horrible violent temper tantrums, wanted his independence, very active, but you still couldn't fully reason with him. So far, my DS2 is turning out the same way. At 3, he really calmed down and become much more aware and reasonable, so it's been pretty smooth sailing from there so far.

My twins are this exact way from 3.5 to current. They'll be 4 in December and I'm really hoping they calm down. This is by far the worst age for us.

What's the Worst Age?
DD is just about 2.5 and has been sooo freakin impatient lately that I'm going to lose my mind. I'm scared of what she has to offer at age 3...

Re: What's the Worst Age?
With having an 11 yo DS and 8yo DS, and talking with many parents (coworkers, parents of Scouts, soccer, etc.), I will just answer "YES"!
All of the younger years, and all of the older years are the worst, it just varies. The crying and whining some years, the talking back other years, the shoving everything in sight in their mouths (as toddlers, and later on as teenagers... )

ITA I was just going to post 11 as DS is currently whining about finishing a school project.
Its all the BEST and its all the WORST. Just cherish every minute it goes way too fast.

TEENAGERS!!!! Toddler tantrums have nothing on teenagers!! The hormones, the attitudes, the expense I love that people think having a baby is the most expensive time of their lives. Just wait

probably 2 and 3. 4 has been great for us. Love this age.
Newborn was probably the worst for us though. All she did was cry and never slept.

Re: What's the Worst Age?
LOL! I'm betting teen years too.
If you speak to someone with a colicky baby, that period is pretty bad too.
I do LOVE the ages of 2 (almost 3) & 4. I would freeze my kids here if I could.
