Need potty help! How do I undo this?
So we tried 3 day with DD and it's not working. After the first day she just started holding it in for ridiculous amounts of time. I'm talking 12 hours before she finally loses it. The only way I get her to go now is to strip off her bottoms and let her cry hysterically, begging to be picked up and this goes on for at least 10-15 minutes before she finally loses control. Sometimes she still doesn't go and I just give up and she continues to hold it. We put her in a diaper yesterday evening bc I just want her to pee at this point and she still holds it. I have no idea what to do but this is heartbreaking right now and I'm sure it's not good for her in any way. Help!

I would just go back to diapers and drop it for now.

Need potty help! How do I undo this?
She's 28 months. The problem is she's doing the same thing even in diapers. I don't care where she goes at this point but she won't even just go in a diaper.

Need potty help! How do I undo this?
Last night I gave up and put her to bed thinking she'd just fall asleep and then go. I kept going in and checking but she was still dry after sleeping 2 hours. She finally woke up crying for me and it was the same thing. Wouldn't go until I stripped her down and let her cry forever.

I think if you put her back in diapers she will go and go regularly once she realizes that its ok.
Personally I would just talk to her and tell he she can do whatever she wants. Diaper or potty and you will be there if she needs help all she has to do is ask.
It is probably a control issue. And I would give her back all the control for now.

What about at night? Did she wake with a wet diaper? I would put the diaper on her, let her go about her routine and just not even talk about it. Give her drinks as usual and just change her every few hours, wet or dry. If she is distracted enough and playing hopefully she will just pee. Or put her in a warm bath, that usually stimulates them to pee.

Definitely a control issue now. I would just re-assure her that diapers are fine and that she can still keep using them. Sorry, don't know what else to say.

She went to sleep with her hand literally holding herself for over two hours and then woke up calling me bc she wouldn't just go. I got her up and tried to coax her to go and it still took another 40 minutes probably. She woke dry and hasn't gone since. I'm trying not to push it thinking she's got to go eventually.

Need potty help! How do I undo this?
Poor thing finally went in the pull up after holding it about 13 hours. I put her in her booster seat for lunch and she immediately wanted out bc she couldn't hold it in there. I kept her in and she went within a minute or two. Hopefully she'll realize she can go whenever. We'll be out tonight with lots of kids so hopefully she'll be distracted enough bc I don't want her clinging to me all night afraid to pee. We'll see.

Our kiddos are going through the same thing! My son was holding it in for hours also, I finally gave up and put him back in diapers. I notice he's still holding it in but not as long as he was with undies.

Uggh, not fun. I'd much rather just change diapers!

Re: Need potty help! How do I undo this?
Honestly, this is my take on potty training: When they are ready, they will do it. The same with taking away bottles, pacifiers, sleeping through the night.
I know that sounds lazy, but I have found with DD that when I try to force something, it ends it disaster.
When she was ready, she gave up bottles with no fight- before that, she was acting like a heroin addict in withdrawals, no joke.
When she was ready- and mind you this was at 3.5, she gave up the pacifer easily.
When she was ready, she peed on the potty without an accident or an issue or a tear. When she was FINALLY ready (AFTER 4 years old!!!) she decided it was ok to poop on the potty. FINALLY. And this was after months and months of bribes, threats, sticker charts, etc. It just clicked. And that was it.
I say, go back to diapers and try again in a few months. When she is ready, it won't be this hard. Trust me.

Re: Need potty help! How do I undo this?
DD was doing the same thing with poop when we just tried potty training this past weekend - we also used 3 day method - she is 26 months I finally put her back in diapers - pumped her full of water and prune juice and she finally just went It definitely took a few days of her crying and holding it to get back to normal - today she seems good so far. I just kept telling her it is okay to still go in the diaper - we will try potty training again another time and just rewarded her for pooping in general. She still asks to go on the potty so I let her but normally nothing happens and I still reward her for that. I am just going to stop talking about it all together now that she seems back on track and try again in a few months. good luck

Thank you so much for this..I have been stressing..ME...not HER..lol..she will be 3.5 soon and doesn't want to wear a diaper (wants pull ups, so, essentially, diapers) and won't go on the potty..maybe she's sat at school twice, peed on there once...

Re: Need potty help! How do I undo this?
Totally a control thing. Sooo frustrating because we can't do this for them! Tried the 3 day potty training at 32 months old with my twins (last month). We stayed home for a week and followed it exactly and you know what- it was a massive failure!!!
I even spoke to my ped about it because I know the method says 22 months is the magic age. He said there is no magic age. It's control and they have all the power and we have none He said he's being doing this many years and he's seen kids 18 months old do it to ones that were 4 1/2. He said all I can do is keep encouraging but if they get stressed or resist to back off. That's their way of saying nope they are not ready. And yes once it clicks supposedly it is very easy. Can't wait for that click to happen!!!

Unfortunately I learned all of this the hard way. I rushed a few things and it was very upsetting for both me and DD. Now I just take a more laid back approach and let her dictate a time-frame to me a bit more. Other things have now gone much smoother than my mistakes.

I agree. We were encouraging dd to use the potty but didn't force it and one day she was like I want to wear underwear and I said ok and that was that. They will do it when they are ready. Dd had just turned 3

Need potty help! How do I undo this?
Thanks for all the replies. I'm definitely going to eventually take the slow approach down the road and for now we are done. I thought 3 day was worth a try since so many people have had success with it but it clearly was not for DD right now. She's still resisting going in the diaper but I'm hoping that won't last much longer.

DD was great in Jan she was18 months and I got a Potty for when she was ready and put it on the floor. first day home from daycare in the toddler room and she did #1 and #2. A few times after that and now nothing.. shes 26 mo. I figure when shes ready
