Talk to me about airport security with kids . . .
Whenever I want to opt out of the full body scanner I just say I'm pregnant lol. I'll ride that out until I'm 50.
Nobody will question you or give you a hard time about not wanting to put your children in there either. In fact, I'm always waved over to the reg metal detector before I even say anything if I'm traveling with my DD.

Yeah this is true. AJ's never been in the scan.
But to a PP's post... I am ALWAYS absolutely positively ALWAYS scanned for explosives if I travel alone. Every. Single. FREAKING. TIME! different airports too. JFK, Cleveland, San Diego, Midland (TX), San Antonio. But if I travel with someone, I'm not bothered. I think its because I obviously look like I'll pass and they need to have so many counted. I nearly want to walk up with my palms up and say "just do it already"

You can go in a separate line with young kids - just ask when you get there. As others have said, they don't need to take their shoes off, but they have to go through alone if they can walk. I have never had to go through the body scan with the kids. If just regular milk, I would just buy at the airport. If formula, I would leave it in the package until you are through security.

yeah I do the same, but there is no opting out. DS has been allowed to keep his shoes on, he's only two not sure when that changes. They also will take any bottles you have and scan them, formula, water whatever

We travel to Europe 2-3 times a year and DS never went through a scaner. I always ask to opt out, DS get a quick pat down if that.
The last 3 times I was pregnant, so I didn't go either.
You can bring milk, milk it treated as a medicine and they can't say no.
You can bring snacks, crackers and cookies for your DC as well.

Flew out of JFK with my 4 year old in Feb. He didn't have to take his shoes off and went through the metal detector. He had a sippy cup of water that I forgot to empty and they tested it with those strips. We were given priority and were able to jump to the front of the line.
