Nope. I have to admit that I tend to like higher end clothing. Not necessarily bc they are high end but because it just tends to be my style. Some of the cutest RL outfits I have received for DD are from Macys clearance,Lord and Taylor clearance, RL outlet, and Marshall's.

sweetest little RL outfits EVER ... Marshalls. $9.00
I got more compliments on these outfits than any $50 Matilda Jane knot top or Bloomies number.

I am never insulted to receive a thoughtful gift for my baby regardless of where it was purchased.

I'd rather get something from a store like tjmaxx or Marshall's than from a higher end store. Then if she spits up or poops on it, I won't feel like its a waste of money.

The only "designer" clothes my kids have are from outlet stores or family members who work at high end stores and buy there with a discount. I don't care. It's still nice. It may be last season, but what do I know. If your friend is a "keep up with the Jones'" type and will only put current years styles on her child, then get current years styles. If not, then don't worry.

I look at it differently. We shop for my kids at C21, j crew outlets, marshalls and tj maxx. If those stores are good enough for my kids , they are good enough for friends kids. If they don't like it, then oh well.
I picked up some aiden and anais stuff from Buy Buy Baby. I'm going to package it with the RL stuff I purchased at TJ Maxx in the BBB box.
I thought about how ridiculous it was to return 3 items to buy 1 of the same item for double the price of the 3 items just to get a high end store box and receipt. I spent the ~$100 I was originally planning to spend. She just got more stuff because I bought some discounted clothing.
If I received this gift, I would feel grateful. The mom is very nice and not pretentious. I think she will like the gift.

I would never in a million years find it insulting!
A cute outfit is a cute outfit, no matter where its from.
I would be touched that my friend thought enough to buy me something period.

Plus if you get it cheaper why the hell not!! I wouldn't think twice about it!!
And I would hope people wouldn't spend top dollar on me in a high end store when they can get something similar for much less. To be honest I feel more uncomfortable if someone has spent too much.

I can't believe someone would be INSULTED over a baby gift from Marshall's. I didn't expect anything, from anyone, when I had my kids. So I appreciated everything...Wal Mart or Nordstroms.
 I buy my girls stuff from all different types of stores and I'd never care where something was purchased. A cute baby outfit is just that. Babies are only going to spit up and poop on them and they will be outgrown in a few months anyways. Very silly to be insulted over where something was purchased.
