It's incredibly hard, totally sucks, but like others have said it gets easier. Family member watching the baby (same situation here) has it's own set of stresses.

My thoughts exactly. It also has it's benefits like my mom giving a DD a bath because I wanted time to play lol!

Gymboree has weekend classes. I took DS to Oceanside and Westbury. We also did Nuts for Signs.

Yeah it's expensive though. The library ones are free.

Also know that most of us FTWM don't do any classes and your child will not be behind or left out or anything if they never attend one.

I felt that since I do not see my DS all week long (few hrs a night) I wasn't goign to spend my time with classes or play dates and I know others feel the same way. Don't beat yourself up if it just doesn't work with classes.

I know it's not necessary but it's something I would like to do with her.

Uh oh! You may end up having issues with your mom babysitting. That screams no boundaries. Letting her friend do that is just not ok.

Yeah I let her know this and let the friend know as well. I know she's gonna do whatever she wants regardless though.

Re: FTWM...does it get easier??

My mom watched DS#1 when I returned to work. I used to think that family watching DS would be great. I had so much drama during this time. My mom never listened to me and in turn, she would constantly tell me how I should parent.

I tried being a SAHM when DS#2 was born. It was not for me and I returned to work part time (25-30 hrs a week).

I now have 2 kids in preschool (now summer camp at the preschool). We absolutely love our preschool. The teachers, activities, extras, academics, kids, families, facilities, etc. I feel absolutely no guilt whatsoever that I work because I know that my kids are well cared for, learning and have a great time. I have no doubt that they are having a better time than if I were home with them those same hours. We have plenty of quality time together during the early evenings and weekends.

If you find good childcare, it will get easier.

I used to stress about what my mom was doing with DS. I always wished I were home with DS. It was hard to work when I constantly preferred to be home. I now know that even if I were home, my 2 boys would be attending preschool so the guilt is gone and I can focus on my work.

Good luck!
