When did your DC stop napping?
DD1 is almost 3, and she takes a one hour nap in the afternoon (that we need to wake her from), but she won't go to sleep at night - she is often up until midnight and it is a fight to get her to sleep.
Is she too young to drop her nap? When do kids stop napping? Thanks!

DD1 will be 4 in a few weeks and still naps about 90 minutes every day! She would nap longer but then bedtime is a nightmare.
Can you maybe move up her naptime so bedtime isn't so late?

My DD was about 3.5 years old.
She was taking one 3hr nap a day until about 3y3m. Then at that point she started cutting her naps shorter and shorter, some days skipping them all together, and then by 3.5 she was done.
ETA - Her naps never affected her bedtime though. She was always in bed asleep by 8pm.

DD is 3 yrs, 3 mos, and napping is pretty much over. She still naps most days at daycare, but on the weekends at home, it's not really happening.
But, if we're in the car 2-3pm, she will def doze off, so I know she needs it. If it wasn't for daycare, I think naps would be done. She fights it too much, and is generally happy without one.

My just turned 4 year old DD naps about 3 hours every afternoon and goes to bed at around 7:45pm. I keep wait for her to stop napping, but she really needs it.

My twins dropped their last nap shortly after turning 2. I tried to so hard to keep them but they were just done. They slept 12 hours at night so I wasn't too concerned. I also dropped bedtime back about 45 minutes too.

Both my boys were under 3 for the same reason as you stated. We basically pulled the nap so that they would go to bed at night.
With DS1 we did "quiet time" I would put him in his room and he could play, or watch a movie (portable DVD player) but he had to be quiet for 1 hour. THat lasted a few months unitl his brother was born.
With DS2 I usually put a movie or something on in the afternoon for him to wind down. on a rare occassion he will fall asleep if he is really tired, but most times for 30-50 minutes he just sits and watches tv and then he will get up and start playing again.

AJ is 5 going on 6 and STILL sneaks in a nap on weekends, if given a chance. She loves naps. Heck *I* love naps. could use one right now.
She's up at 630am and down by 8:30pm but on weekends she gets up and going closer to 730-800 and then mid day if she's burned enough of her 'giggles out' she will 'recharge' by taking an hour nap. I wake her up after an hour no matter WHAT!
Officially she lost her nap by going to kindergarten. No nap time in school. So just barely 5 yrs old she lost her last nap. But now she just has them 'as needed'. LOL
Oh and she naps if she's in the car for more than 20min does that count?! LOL

DS is 2.5 and will take a 2 to 3 hour nap basically every day!! Not looking forward to him dropping that nap, but that will probably happen once he starts school in September.

Thanks everyone! My nanny is going to try to cut the nap out to see if it helps! I get up at 6 for work, so midnight bedtime just does not work for me!

My almost 4 year old naps 1.5-2 hrs daily bc he truly needs it. The nap doesn't affect bedtime but if he doesnt nap, he's in bed before 730 otherwise it's 830. He's up before 630 daily so by noon he needs a nap

We nixed naps this past February. My kids were 3.5 and 4.5 years old. My 4.5 year old really wasn't napping anymore anyway...she would just lay in her bed and play with her toys and read books. My 3.5 year old would nap, maybe, half the time.
The 3.5 year old could still use a nap every once in a while nowadays, but it has been a pretty easy transition. The kids certainly are thrilled about it. haha

We took his naps away at 2.5 because bedtime was a nightmare and then he was waking up super early the next day, so not getting enough sleep. He was in a terrible cycle. So now he goes to bed at 8pm with no problem and is usually awake between 6-7am most days.

DS just turned 4. During the week, he naps at daycare though I've asked them to keep it short (45 mins) because he wasn't falling asleep at night until 10pm+!!!
During the weekend, no nap. We try to have him do "quiet time" in his room.

Right before 3. DD2 was born in MArch and dd1 turned 3 in May. She stopped when I had dd2. it was for the best. Now and for the past year she doesn't fit me at bed time (well she stalls, but not a huge fight lol) and is asleep in 5 minutes once she's relaxed

The nanny has managed to stall the nap with the iPad! She is on a Peppa Pig marathon right now!

2.5 yrs!! The day We got rid of the pinkie! Now with my third - On days she doesn't nap - she goes down at night no problem and does the same as yours when she does nap! So It looks like she is ready to stop too!

When did your DC stop napping?
DS will be four at the end of June and he only naps at daycare and those nights are awful. He is there 3 days a week and they say he sleeps "only an hour" but he will not go to sleep at night until 10 p.m. When we are home or when he is with my mom the other days he does not nap and he is usually asleep by 8-8:30. Even if he naps for 20 minutes in the car, he has a tough time going to sleep that night. If it wasn't for daycare, I know he wouldn't nap anymore.

My son decided to drop his daily nap right around 22 months old.. He would only nap in the car after that... He slept about 11-12 hours a night at that point.. He is now 4 and never naps....

We avoided a nap yesterday and bedtime at 9:30 was super easy, but she woke up at 3 and was up for an hour. Hopefully it gets better soon - I am so exhausted I can barely function.
