Bellmore merrick peds
What kind of formula do they give in hospital? I realized that I'm stocking up on formula and it might not be the right kind. I switched to them when ds was a year.

I could be wrong but I don't think its the ped that dictates the formula at the hospital. I think its just what the hospital stocks
I delivered at Mercy and didn't have a choice....they only had similac

Dont stock up........what if baby has allergies, reflux, etc. You will be out all that money & trying to sell. Stock up on diapers. Wait on formula

I use them and when I delivered at lij that hospital used similac. Jasseys office didn't tell them to use a specific kind.

The formula is definitely hospital dependent. I delivered at South Nassau and they had Similac. Dr. Jassey's office doesn't have a strong opinion on which one you use.

the formula varies by hospital not by pediatrician.
as the other posted mentioned, dont stock up, you never know what your LO will take
i would sign up for the enfamil and similac packages and they send free samples.

As others said, the hospital will dictate which formula you start out with. When I had Jake at Winthrop, they gave him Similac, but when I had Lily there they gave her Enfamil. But I think I could have chosen either one at that time because they asked me if the Enfamil was ok.

There's really no such "the right kind" unless there's a medical reason (like reflux) that the baby needs a special formula. I agree with the others that you should just sign up for the samples. Stock up after you know what your baby is comfortable with. When I delivered I was BFing but I took home Enfamil and Similac samples. The hospital had both.

I wouldn't stock up. We had my DS on similac advance so we stocked up for DD and it turned out she had reflux and needed different formula! Luckily bjs let us return for store credit!

Thanks all. I know that the hospital has both. According to my friend who is a nicu nurse the dr will often tell them which one to use. I didn't mean stock up but more meant sign everyone up for the coupons.

Enfamil if you deliver at Winthrop but you can ask for another brand. North Shore and LIJ now have enfamil also b/c Similac lowered their calories on their formula and it doesn't meet some regulations
