When did you stop waking your EBF baby at night to eat?
DS is 6 weeks tomorrow & last night he went almost 7 hours (from about 9:45 PM- 3:30am). I'd been setting my alarm to wake him after 5 hours, but forgot and was shocked that he slept do long. He eats well and was 7.5lbs at birth & 10lbs last week at 5 weeks, so he's gaining well too.
Can I stop waking him or is it bad for my supply for him to go so long so soon?

When did you stop waking your EBF baby at night to eat?
You can stop waking him, but I would try to do a quick pump in that time slot. It will help keep your supply up. After 12 weeks i'd drop it.

We stopped the nighttime/early morning feeding when she began sleeping through it. DD was in the NICU for 6 weeks so she was used to waking up at 2:00am for a feeding. We did that and at about 8 weeks she started sleeping through the 2:00 and waking around 4. A couple weeks later she started sleeping through the 4am and now sleeps until 6:30 and she'll be 15 weeks tomorrow.

I never woke them. Unless my doctor had advised me otherwise, I am a big believer in letting sleeping babies lie! They would wake on their own when they needed to eat.

This. I never once woke DS up for a feeding. Wouldn't have even thought to! I do agree about trying to at least get a pumping session in though, so your supply isn't affected too much.

Ditto! And there's no need for you to pump during the night (unless you're trying to build up extra stash) because your breasts will just learn they don't need to make milk at that time, since your baby is sleeping then and doeant need to eat. The milk will still be there when he demands it!

Thanks. I'm not a fan of pumping and doubt I'll enjoy it anymore at 2:00am, so this is what I was hoping to hear.

I never woke either of my EBF kids. I'd only wake them if there were weight gain/health issues. Enjoy the sleep

I never woke DD once she was back up to birth weight and gaining solidly. I don't think you need to worry about pumping either. I would have no interest at that in the middle of the night!

I only woke DD the first week or so because the drs in the hospital convinced me I had to and not knowing any better, I listened. Once I stopped, I never pumped in the middle of the night, unless I woke and was in pain. DD was ultimately a terrible sleeper and would never go more than 5-7 hrs, so only if she happened to sleep well as skip a feeding would I ever feel the need to pump over night

I never wake my DD at night (she is 5 weeks old). If she sleeps then I sleep so I do not pump either.

I never woke my LOs either. If your engorged in the AM I would just pump and nurse at the same time. I was able to build a nice stash doing this. GL!

Same here. I always pumped because I needed a lot of milk for my twin boys.

She would wake on her own when she was hungry

My doctor told me as soon as they regained their birth weight, which was in the first week for both my DDs. I just let them wake me when they were hungry. I never pumped at night.

This, and I only ever pumped at night once (the first time he slept a long stretch, because I was in pain). My supply adjusted quickly. And then DS started waking every 2 hours again, which lasted from 3months until about 2 weeks ago (when he was 5.5 months). Your supply will regulate, and since baby has regained birth weight and is gaining nicely, enjoy the sleep!

I did a dream feed until 11 months old. It was either that or nurse at 4 am. My ds is super skinny, though. I felt he needed the calories. Same with your child. Only do it if you think the baby needs the cals.

The #1 rule we were thought growing up was never wake a sleepinn baby. The nurses tried to get me to wake DD the night she was born to feed her and i told them no way that she would wake when she wanted it. She slept all night the 1st night and every night since LOL.

DD was a little jaundiced when she was born, so I was supposed to nurse her every few hours. Once I got the all clear from the pediatrician (probably around 2 weeks) I never woke her at night. During the day I would still feed her every few hours/on demand but at night I let her sleep as long as she wanted and then nursed her when she woke up.
