I didn't get that letter. I guess the lawsuit is that TJs claimed some of there items were "natural" when they weren't? I've purchased joe joes and they are 2.99.

I didn't get the letter. I haven't shopped there in over six months though. I am not surprised they settled. I try not to shop there as they don't reveal their food sources.

I didn't get a letter, and I shop there at least 2-3 times per month! What other foods are involved in the suit?

How do they know you shop there?
Like how do they get your address to send you that letter?
I never gave my personal info at Trader Joes.

So what is the lawsuit about? The "natural" foods weren't really natural? It's not like anyone got sick, right?

I'm not saying false advertising is ok at all, just trying to clarify.

Yeah I don't get it.
I guess a lot of people think that because Trader Joe's is all "crunchy" and hippy that everything there is automatically natural, organic and healthy.
Meanwhile I notice much of the stuff is the same processed crap as the supermarket.

They have a huge sign that says that everything they sell is "natural". If that's not the case...oh boy...

They're most likely sending them out to everyone that receives their flyers.

FDA doesn't make companies list what ingredients are all natural... that's the scary part.

Like for example Castoreum, which is a secretion produced by beavers, and has been used as a food additive. technically that is "all natural" and wasn't made in a lab. so of course companies are going to say "Castereum" Vs Beaver secretions Chat Icon

Also, Carageenan which is a sea weed extract is "all natural" but some people have really bad reactions to it, like stomach cramps, etc.

The suit is absurd. Arsenic is "natural," --naturally occurring--right?

So many people buy organic this and natural that without realizing how little regulation and how much abuse there is.

Currently, there's a lot of class action litigation against companies touting the so-called "natural" label on their products, specially those products containing gmos. So this issue Is not just limited to trader joes.

I haven't shopped there in a long time - all i liked was there frozen stuff and i wont make it anymore. Just because something says natural or organic doesn't mean you shouldn't read the ingredients. Foods labeled natural aren't regulated and don't need to meet criteria like organic so I never put much stock in it!

I'm not surprised. I've figured that at least some natural/organic labels would come out as a scam at some point. Businesses are feeding off a trend.
