I was going to quote your initial comment, so I am glad you reconsidered your words. They were incredibly judgmental, for lack of a better word.

Excuse me? It wasn't a big deal what I wrote. The ONLY reason I rewrote it is I wasn't in the mood for a debate. But I will say it again since you felt the need to comment as if I am not entitled to MY OWN opinion.

I think 2 is TOO old for a pacifier. Once they start speaking, they are too old for a pacifier IMO. Don't bother debating me since you won't change my mind. And I think he's too big to be carried like that. Being carried in your arms is one thing. Being carried like that is another. It looks ridiculous. That's MY opinion. If you or anyone else want to do it, that's up to you. But I can think what I want just as you can do/think what you want. I am entitled to MY opinion and will comment my opinion on the picture. Not going to debate you, so don't bother trying.

I certainly won't try to change your mind. But your comments were pretty judgmental in their delivery. IMO.

A simple "not for me" or "I wouldn't do that" is a far more productive contribution than "way too big too be carried like that and too old to be using a pacifier", as if you're the queen bee of parenting. That was MY personal interpretation of what you said. I am not interested in debating with you.

It's funny that you are calling Goobster judgmental when your original comment "I think that people who clearly have no concept of babywearing shouldn't make comments about safety" is judgmental in and of itself. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of the picture and what is happening in the picture. I happen to agree with Goobster, the kid looks ridiculous in the carrier. If she is concerned about safety, put him in a stroller. As for the paci, I'm not one to talk. I only took it away from DS when he was also 2ish.

It's judgmental because she is assuming those who disagree with wearing a child that old automatically know nothing about baby wearing and also don't know about safety. Like I said before everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Her comment was catty and unnecessary.

To each their own but it seems like you seek these parenting related posts out just to let everyone know just how much you disagree with certain things (breastfeeding, pacifiers and now apparently baby wearing). To me, it's like responding to a 'favorite chicken recipe' thread just to say you hate chicken Chat Icon Chat Icon

I will only respond to you b.c you have some nerve. WHO ARE YOU? I don't even know who you are. For your KNOW IT ALL INFO< I have ACTUALLY NEVER EVER commented about pacifier use or baby wearing in the past on LIF. EVER. So what on Earth are you conjuring up? Seek out? Now you are REALLY reaching on that one. How on Earth would I know that this Kate Hudson picture thread, before I opened it, would be THIS one? I look at ANY pic on celebs that interests me and this one happened to be SORT Of parenting related. And I commented just as many others have, with what I thought of the pic.

Re: Kate Hudson and son Bingham

The kid is 2, not 10. I didn't realize when I wore my son in the Ergo up and down subway stairs I looked ridiculous doing so.

At the age of 2 the child would have an opinion if he was uncomfortable, which in this photo, he looks particularly calm. If you have ever seen Paps take pics of celebs, it isn't one guy taking pics nicely and walking away, it is literally 20-40 or more people walking backwards, screaming questions, the childs name, the parents name, flashes going off, bystanders staring at them, etc. Heck I was at the farmers market and Gavin Rosedale was there, it was so chaotic one of the paps tripped over another person stroller! So clearly the kid and the mother are more comfortable this way then trying to maneuver through chaos with a stroller, and clearly Bing is comforted being worn.

as for the binky, not my style, but again, perhaps it helps relax him in the chaos.

My only comment on her wearing him, is she is going to pull a muscle in her neck.

LOL I was going to post the same thing. We judge celebs, I though that was the point. They are pretty, ugly, sloppy, messy, clothes, lipstick. good or bad, pretty much every post is a judgment.

Kate Hudson probably doesn't even use a sling and just put her son in it because she had some deal with the company to get the sling in whatever mags the pic would run in.

I think Kate looks great! Love her look! She can pull it off! I know that my DC feels lighter in a carrier so I'm pretty sure carrying her son in the sling is easier than carrying him without plus it keeps him close to her with all those crazy paps around. Win-win for her & she obviously doesn't give a crap about what it looks like to others.

The fact that you write babywearing as two separate words just shows that you do not know enough about it to judge those who do so.

Re: Kate Hudson and son Bingham

As long as there are no safety issues involved, I will never understand why people care so much about what other parents do. Whether it's a celebrity or not, many of the judgmental comments were general. These weren't just comments on Kate Hudson. People were expressing their displeasure with babywearing and pacifiers for toddlers. I can understand why some get offended when others comment that certain parenting choices are ridiculous.

]

I actually ONLY originally edited my comments (that Kitten commented on) b/c I know some LIF board big mouths (like you and some others) can't seem to accept that some of us have our own opinions that we then post, and I just didn't feel like dealing with it yesterday since I wasn't feeling well. But I then added again when someone had the nerve to tell me WHAT to say, since they were looking for trouble by commenting AFTER I edited it and had removed it. THAT's looking for trouble and I don't appreciate that. And it's how I say it? First of all, you have no business telling me or anyone else "how to say" something. And for your information, did you see what I originally wrote, which Kitten responded to? Was hardly harsh at all. All I said was he looks too big and he is too old for a pacifier. HARDLY harsh at all. It's my opinion, and I stated it same as others on here did. So bicker with them too, if you feel like fighting instead of singling out my post (which you likely didn't even see the original). And yes, I am angry, b/c I can't stand it when some people on here think they should control what others say and think and write.Chat Icon Oh, and b/c you LIED saying that I seek out posts like this (LIE) and that I comment on pacifier use and baby wearing (NEVER HAVE). So yes, I don't appreciate being lied about. I don't care what anyone else does, we are commenting on a picture of KATE HUDSON. Unless it's a picture of you and your baby, get a grip.

How old is that kid?Chat Icon He looks gigantic in that.

How is what she said judgmental?

It's judgmental because she is assuming those who disagree with wearing a child that old automatically know nothing about baby wearing and also don't know about safety. Like I said before everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Her comment was catty and unnecessary.

The fact that you write babywearing as two separate words just shows that you do not know enough about it to judge those who do so.

Actually, I'm allowed to have an opinion. I think that carrying a 2 year old like a baby looks silly. I didn't say she shouldn't do it. If it works for her, more power to her. I just wouldn't do it. For the record, I'm writing this on an anonymous message board. It's not like I'm saying it to Kate Hudson herself. If my friend was doing this, I certainly wouldn't tell her that I disagreed because it's her decision. My original comment was that Kitten1929's comment was unnecessary and I stand by that.

It probably makes it so much easier to carry him. I don't know any two years olds who aren't carried a large majority of the time so why not use a sling or carrier and make it easier? If she were carrying him without the sling no one would say a word so what's the difference?

I wish! My kiddo just turned 2 and she loves to walk, run, skip...she is in her independent phase and doesn't let me carry her much anymore Chat Icon

The last thing that I will say is this: I find it incredibly...sad...that carrying her child at 2 years is considered "silly."

What a shame that this culture can't be accepting of a mother holding her child. It seems so closed-minded, and baffling, to find something wrong with this.

Do any of the women on here STOP carrying their children because it looks silly? Do you not want to have close, comforting contact with your child? Do you not want to love and hug and hold them as much as possible? Is there some unwritten rule somewhere that kids can't be held past a certain age?

I am just genuinely so confused that there can be anything wrong or silly about this. I truly am.
