I think that people who clearly have no concept of babywearing shouldn't make comments about safety.

I wasn't commenting on safety. I was commenting that it looked uncomfortable on the back/shoulders. I then stood corrected when someone mentioned that when it's done properly it's quite comfortable. I don't recall anyone saying it was unsafe.

Why are you talking about safety? IMO this looks very silly, wearing a TODDLER. He is not a baby.

I agree the original post was a bit catty, but Onemoretime seriously? Having a toddler and being a celeb I would imagine this IS the safest way to get from point A to point B with the airport and paps. So just because he is a TODDLER he shouldn't be held or carried? That just sounds weird. babywearing is a safe, comfortable, NATURAL thing to do. Many women babywear for years and many people make carriers specifically for toddlers and GASP preschool aged kids! Snark meeting snark is not helping this thread.

Absolutely agree. Kids love to be worn and I would say especially in people who are followed by paps -- this is absolutely the safest way to move around with your kid.

I will wear my children until I physically can no longer do it. Or they no longer want uppy. Just because he's a "toddler" doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be held.

To the poster who asked what sling this was, it looks like a wrap conversion ring sling made from a BB Slen, pineapple color way.

I must also say that Kate *should* pull the shoulder down a little. She'd be way more comfy.

Side note, I wonder if they bed share.. Chat Icon

I'm pretty sure this is one of the only countries in the world who expects children to be fully autonomous as soon as they can walk! Other places carry, wear and BF much longer. It's very normal.

It probably makes it so much easier to carry him. I don't know any two years olds who aren't carried a large majority of the time so why not use a sling or carrier and make it easier? If she were carrying him without the sling no one would say a word so what's the difference?

Lol I wonder if this would be different if it was a man carrying the child or say the singer Pink?

Pink is pretty awesome, edgy, and non-traditional. Yet she is STILL nursing her toddler and tweets how her husband worries she'll nurse her before prom lol, she baby wears, they bed share, and YET she remains an edgy rock star.

My point to any babywearing naysayers is that this is a safe effective parenting tool. Please educate me: Do babies reach a certain age where you are not allowed to carry them? Do children do better running around than in the safety of a parents arm, especially in an airport?

I am just baffled that anyone would think it's unsafe/impractical/unnecessary/weird/insert any other adjective/ in regards to holding your child?

Re: Kate Hudson and son Bingham

OMG My DS is going to be 3 in a month and I still carry him when I can. I'm 4.5 months pregnant as well.

I don't get the comments about wearing him. Why are there so many people who expect children to be adults so quickly.

I say EMBRACE and ENJOY every second of your child's life and don't rush the growing up. I will baby my DS as much as I can for as long as I can.

We still co-sleep and have no plans on changing that even with our 2nd child due in January. He still takes a paci...who cares!! What could be the worse thing that happens with all of these attachment parenting ways?

No, clearly, you're supposed to expect them to walk out of you vagina as fully functioning adults with a college-level vocabulary, potty trained and ready to find a job.

Excuse me? It wasn't a big deal what I wrote. The ONLY reason I rewrote it is I wasn't in the mood for a debate. But I will say it again since you felt the need to comment as if I am not entitled to MY OWN opinion.

I think 2 is TOO old for a pacifier. Once they start speaking, they are too old for a pacifier IMO. Don't bother debating me since you won't change my mind. And I think he's too big to be carried like that. Being carried in your arms is one thing. Being carried like that is another. It looks ridiculous. That's MY opinion. If you or anyone else want to do it, that's up to you. But I can think what I want just as you can do/think what you want. I am entitled to MY opinion and will comment my opinion on the picture. Not going to debate you, so don't bother trying.

You're absolutely right, a parent (a celebrity no less) having their hands free in a busy airport with their child safely on their person is just absurd and I have no clue why any parent would choose to do that.

To each their own but it seems like you seek these parenting related posts out just to let everyone know just how much you disagree with certain things (breastfeeding, pacifiers and now apparently baby wearing). To me, it's like responding to a 'favorite chicken recipe' thread just to say you hate chicken Chat Icon Chat Icon
