Day Care Moms: What Do You Pack For Your 1 Year Old for Lunch @ DayCare?

DS started daycare this week and it seems like he's the only kid still eating "baby food." Granted the kids in his class are older (he's 10 mos in a 1-2 yr old class right now) but when did your child stop eating baby food all together?

At home he eats some of what we're eating but mostly eats oatmeal, baby food jars or pouches (1-2 per meal), plus a few bottles.

What types of food do you pack for them at daycare? I'm so bad at packing his lunch I have forgotten something important both days now!!!

What are some good transition meals for this age that can be prepared the night before?

DS isn't in day care, but he stopped eating baby food around 10 months altogether. We started giving him table food at 9 months and he did well with it.

When he was that small, we would give him fruit cut up super small, cheese, tiny pieces of chicken, soft carrots, macaronis. Not sure how feasible that is for day care.

Good luck!

My DD is not in daycare but if she was I would send her with:

-blueberries
-rice cakes and/or puffs
-strips of cheese
-other fruit, like a banana or cut-up watermelon
-mini-muffins

the same sort of stuff she would be eating at home that I know she does well with and that wouldn't go bad or need to be fresh/re-heated at daycare.

But if you prefer your LO having purees or spoon-fed foods like yogurt or oatmeal, I would continue to send that as well.

We also don't do daycare. I am a SAHM but my twins are 21 months. They are starting to tell me they are hungry but then when I offer food, they won't eat anything I give them...HELP

my 1 year old is in day care and he typically has a 9 hour day there.. so..
bkft- cereal, pureed fruit combo, 8 ouncebottle
lunch- either leftovers, chicken nuggets, blended veggies- some homemade combo, regular veggies, pasta, 8-ounce bottle
snack- yogurt, puffs, animal crackers, 8 uonce bottle.

On any given day, he may take food from school vs what i bring him. all depends on waht they aer serving and if he wants it.. he was grabbing at the other childrens food at one point.. i trust his teachers there, adn know they are looking out for hisbest interest, so i will leave that control in their hands, so if he wants something i will let them give it to them..

This! I buy bagged frozen chicken breast from trader joes. I throw it in the toaster on bake for 20 minutes then cut it up into bite size pieces for him. Boil some carrots, green beans, peas, or cut up small pieces of fruit and mix it with the chicken and send it in to daycare with DS. I also make turkey meatballs and send that in. Sometimes with a little pasta an sauce, sometimes plain. Sometimes I do just a fruit and veggie mixed together it a few different veggies.

My ds started table food after 1 he had hard time with it. As you try new things at home and see how she does with it then you can send it in. I imagine they have fridge and stove to heat up so you can and anything!

my son was on all table foods at 9 months with no teeth. (he refused to eat baby food anymore).

but some good things are blueberries, strawberries, cheese, yobaby, some coldcuts or even pb&j cut up.

DS is 9.5 months and recently stopped babyfood, and is starting daycare in 2 weeks. I am planning on sending pasta and veggies, fruit, hummus sandwiches, rice and beans...those are all the ideas I have so far, lol
