This week went to both the suffolk country farm and quogue wildlife refuge. Both free, and lots of fun!
Saturday is the first Saturday of the month, so Home Depot is having their free kids workshop.

ETA: All the villages around us have free concerts at night. We saw Darlene Graham Tuesday in Westhampton. Those are fun to bring a dinner too.

My almost-4yo DS had a blast this week at IKEA, of all places! He loved the children's department and the model rooms. It was pretty empty when we were there, so he was able to really check them out. The cafeteria/restaurant is very family-friendly with yogurts, fruit, kid menu and microwaves you can use. There is even a family restroom for nursing moms with a comfy chair. Oh, and he didn't even go in Småland, their supervised play area.

We take him to the pet store and let him look at all of the animals and fish. Hell of a lot cheaper than going to the zoo or aquarium!

my dd is still really young and we don't "do" much with her yet, but I take her to port jeff village a lot. we go to the park, take a walk around, look in a few stores, dip our feet in the water in the tiny beach area etc.
someone was telling me about a butterfly house in smithtown. it's like $3 and they have picnic tables so you can bring a picnic lunch etc.

We like going to different playgrounds - I try to rotate them to keep them new/fresh.

I did Lowes Build and Grow last weekend with DS - I had to do a lot of the work (well, most of it) but, it was cute, fun and free. He was so excited to sign up for the next session.
