When did you get rid of the pacifier?
Around 13 months we tried and she was doing great but then she got sick and was getting her eye teeth and my mom kept giving it to her. Now she's 15 months and asks for it when she goes in her crib. I'm thinking this will only get worse and I should start trying to break the habit.

When did you get rid of the pacifier?
i first tried when DS was 2. that didn't work. i waited until he gave it up himself when he was 3.5 years.

We waitied to long :) It does get harder as they get older as they become more attached.
DS #1 was over 3 and DS #2 is 3.5 and it needs to go :)

Ha! This... Exactly!
He literally got potty trained and refused the paci the same week.
Let me tell you that week was great and awful all at once. No sleep for anyone. 
I almost begged him to take his paci back, but he refused.

My babies are 5months now..and I am starting to get rid of it now..I never used it much to begin with though.

5.5 months. Cold turkey. She was young enough that it only took a few days.

 #1- handed me her paci's at 11 months and never asked for it back.
#2- 12 months. I slowly cut the nipple over a few nights until she thought they were broken.
 #2- 15 months. I waited until later because we took a few long flights to Costa Rica and I wanted his plug for the plane ride I cut the nipple. He told me it was broken and never asked for it again.

she was only allowed to have for naps and bedtime starting i think around 6 months. At a little under 2 they stop giving it to her at daycare during naps at about 27 months i cut the binky part off (she uses the wubabnob one) and said the dog ate it. that was it she doenst use the binky anymore she still asks for her binky meaning the doll part and i give that to her

Took it away a little after 2 for DD.
DS was never a big fan so we didn't have to take it away. I think he stopped using it around 6 months or so.

DD1- 31 months. We tried at 18 months and it was horrible. At 31 months I cut the tip off one and she said it was broken and threw it in the garbage.

2.5 years old. One day he just did not ask for it so he kind of did it on this own. He would bring it up here and there and we would say we lost it and he would just say ok.
My Son was soooo attached to his Paci I thought he would have it till he went to college! - lol

DS is 3 and it was only allowed in his crib.
We just gave him a big boy bed. That night, we tied the paci to a balloon and let it go.
He was so distracted by his big boy bed, he has never asked for it.
Now getting him to stay in the big boy bed has been another story.

DS is 2 years 2 months and he still has his at night. We are hoping to have him weaned off completely by his 3rd birthday.

Day after his 3rd birthday. We cut the tip off. He got mad and said it was broken, threw it and never asked for it again.

For those of you who did it at 4 months how did you do it? Are you SAHMs or do your LOs go to day care. I want to start taking it away from him but I have a feeling day care is going to ask me to still bring it in for "emergencies" and I know I don't have to but I don't want to make their lives more difficult either since they're with him all day. Any tips/suggestions?

Thanks everyone. I put her down for a nap without it and just put her in for bed without one too. So far she's ok, but not falling asleep as quickly. Wondering if she'll be up earlier too. Fingers crossed I have it in me to follow through. Luckily I'm home for the summer so grandma can't mess it up

Dd is 7 months and I will let her when she is ready. I've never met a kid who went off to college using a pacifier

DD was about 19 months when we took it away...a few months before that we only used it when sleeping or in the car.
