I've been trying to give my dc a dippy cup for the past few months but he doesn't care for it. He s exclusively breast fed if that ales a difference? I don't know what to do bc I want to introduce milk at one year bc I'm planning to stop breast feeding... I need help/advice
Thank you!!

How do I get my 11 month old to drink from a dippy cup?
I'm in a similar boat. I've been offering DD water in a sippy since about 6 months. It took a long time but she is better about it now. She's 13 months and usually only takes a few ounces of water throughout the day.
I just started offering her almond milk in a sippy this week. She made faces and threw it at first. I just keep offering it, usually with lunch and dinner. She's now at least picking it up and putting it to her lips but doesn't take more than a tiny sip or two.
She's had very few bottles in her life so she's not used to the idea of milk separate from nursing which is tough. I plan to just keep offering the sippy and nursing at her normal times until she starts to get more milk down. Maybe check with your ped and see if you can start offering milk in the sippy now to get things going. Also giving plenty of cheese and yogurt can make up for things if they continue to refuse the milk. GL!

My advice. .. skip the sippy and go straight to a straw cup. Playtex little grippers specifically. You can squeeze the water up a little so they realize it's there. My ds got the hang of it within a month when I started (he was about 6 months when I started)
Straw cups are better for oral muscular development. It's also one less habit to break (off of the sippy cups)

I agree, I would also leave water in it and leave it in a spot where he can reach it but don't tell him it's there. Chances are he will go get it and try to drink from it. Also try and have your older kids drink from it once so he see's, he may be incline to try it sooner that way.

ITA with the straw sippy! I tried a regular sippy, and also playtex little grippers w/ the straw. I introduced it at 7 months.. he is 9 months now and knows how to suck on the straw now out of the straw sippy! But, you are able to squeeze the cup so that the water goes through the straw, so they learn they have to suck.

How do I get my 11 month old to drink from a dippy cup?
Im in the same boat with my 11 month old only ive been givi g her playtex grippers for 2 months now with every meal and snack. Shes still not getting it! She bites on the straw and then eventually tosses it on the floor. Since she knows i can squeeze the water in her mouth she waits for that and isnt doing the sipping. I saw her sip maybe once or twice here and ghere but not nearly enough. And shes not ebf shes been on a bottle. Since shes 3 weeks old. My peds said to cut back on formula but shes not having it. I have no idea what to do!

We went right to a straw cup...and it could only be water if I tried to put milk in it he refused! So we started with water until he was used to it, then put milk in sippy and now he's fine. He also loves those veggie pouches that have the straw and I felt like that helped him a lot with how to actually do it.

I just kept leaving it on the tray during meal times, and would squirt it in her mouth once in awhile, until she got the hang of it on her own. She is 11 months, and has been drinking from it regularly since about 9 months. She doesn't drink a lot though, just a few sips at a time. More recently, we have had occasions where she has drank a couple of ounces at a meal. We use the Playtex Lil Grippers straw cups.
