Re: Games of Thrones...anyone? SPOLIERS

I know!! I was wondering how she was goint to pull this off, because obviously she wasnt giving up her baby!! This could not have been any cooler!

I kind of feel bad for Theon, i was not expecting him to be lead back to torture.

Im loving the new soon-to-be Queen. She is totally playing Joffrey!

That was so AMAZING!!! I loved it!! I love how people constantly underestimate her and always pay for it!

I don't really understand the point of that - freeing him just to bring him back? I might have missed something in the convo they were having. Does anyone understand what happened there?

Games of Thrones...anyone?

I was so happy The Night Watch killed that horrible horrible man & that baby was able to escape. I'm interested to see how The Night Watch being on their own is going to play out

I have no idea what happened to Theon either. I totally missed why he's being tortured in the first place. Where is his sister?!?

I was wondering if other people were confused with that, because I really don't think they're explaining it well.

Some facts about Theon that we know so far:

- He was "fostered" by the Starks at Winterfell but never felt part of the family and whines about that a lot.
- He conquered Winterfell out of spite because of that and to make his real Daddy proud
- The 2 Stark boys are on the run but no one knows that except Theon, Hodor and the Reeds. At Winterfell, when Theon realized he couldn't find them, he found two other local boys, killed them, and burned them to make it appear as if they were Bran Stark and the other Stark boy that I can't remember the name of
- Theon was captured by different people connected to the Starks. Robb Stark's bannermen, I think you could call them. Theon is seen as a traitor in the North because of what he did to Winterfell and the Starks.
- Torturing a traitor is a bonus to whoever is holding him.

I'm trying not to give anything else away, I hope this makes sense. Chat Icon

Re: Games of Thrones...anyone?

The whole scene with Dany was so great that I rewound it and watched it again. She remains one of my favorite characters!

I also feel so bad for Jaime but really like the unlikely friendship that Brienne is forging with him.

Games of Thrones...anyone?

I don't want to mess anyone up as far as book vs. show, but if the show is following the book as far as Theon's storyline (and I think it is) the man who "rescued" Theon and led him back to be tortured is The Ba$tard of Bolton, a bannerman of Robb Stark and a VERY sick ticket. They go into his character A LOT in the book and he's a twisted psychopath. I think it is supposed to be the same guy because 2 episodes ago he shot the soldier who had Theon captured in the woods and the soldier said "You ba$tard," before he dies...

Edited because I guess we are not allowed to type out ba$tard Chat Icon

That does make more sense. For some reason I got the impression Theon's family was involved in his capture....maybe because the guy who freed him told him his sister sent him. I guess that was stuck in the back of my mind.

I didn't want to say that bc I wasn't sure if the show explained who was holding Theon yet or just what he was all about Chat Icon They may show what he's capable over time, don't want to ruin that for anyone Chat Icon

They did use his sister as a ploy to get him to come along, said it a bunch of times. We met his sister in a previous season, and she has outright disdain for him, so it's questionable that she would rescue him. But I guess Theon wanted to believe. I don't know about you but I outright disliked his character from the beginning. The torture he went through though made me feel bad for him, a little. Chat Icon

I dislike him and think he is such a weasel, but when he was talking about how he had a choice and he chose wrong (about betraying the Starks) I did feel a little bad for him.

That's what I love about this show/these books- no character is cut and dry. Everything takes place in a grey area. Could you ever have imagined in season one feeling pity for Jaime Lannister? I couldn't. I hated him, I seethed when I saw him. I can understand WHY Theon might've betrayed the Starks, but it's certainly not the move I would've made. He whines a lot about not belonging- look at poor Jon Snow. Now THAT'S not belonging!

I still don't feel bad for Jamie. The only Lannister I'm rooting for is Tyrion! I hope he kills his sister and his father & takes control!

I to read the books but have not finished book 5 and Theon storyline has not come up yet. It's interesting that there is a good amount of things that come from book five that are in this season.

I believe it'st the Ba$tard as well and he is frankly pure evil. He would get a kick out of letting Theon think he's free only to realize it was all a trick.

Was waiting for Dany to kick butt. Best part of last night and loved that Sam acted quick and got himself and the girl and baby out of the danger.

Re: Games of Thrones...anyone?

I don't think there will be one bad episode this season. Dani completely shocked me.But I knew there was no way she'd give up any dragons. I couldn't believe when Theon was taken back to be tortured. Love how Margaery is playing Joffrey.....and like the otherost said....I never thought I ever would have felt sorry for Jamie but I love him. I love how he saved Brienne from her attack.
Honestly, the best show on tv!

100% agree with you, I find the older I get, the less I like the good/evil dynamic and lean towards more realistic characterization.

The guy who plays Theon is really good at making us dislike him, I think and I have to admire him for that. But they could remove that entire storyline and I wouldn't miss it.

Interesting you mentioned Jon Snow, I didn't like Catelyn's speech about what happened to him as a baby. I think they were trying to make her seem more sympathetic and moral where she just HATES Jon Snow so much in reality. I mean... you're forced to raise a child that your husband created with another woman, while you were married, what a blow to your pride right? Family pride means so much to everyone, they have their own sigils and sayings, and here's the proof of her husband's infidelity for all to see. I understand how she could have regrets but it's not true to the story and irritates me a little.

I forgot all of this.

When the kid killed the guys who found Theon..well, when the kid put his hand out to Theon he said "Winter is coming".

I was like Chat Icon Does that mean this kid id loyal to the Starks? And if so, doesent Theon HATE the starks?

So yes. In a sense, the kid DOES work for the Starks (after your explination).

Your explination makes sense now.

I read all the books a while ago, so dont really remember many details. I KNEW Dani was up to something. I knew she would not give up a dragon...I just forgot how she did it.

Love her.

Re: Games of Thrones...anyone?

I love how they wrote Theon for the show. IMO, I like him much better than the books. Can't wait to see how his story line develops with Ramsey Snow (Bolton's b@stard).

I also really like the casting this season with the exception of Thoros- I really imagined him looking closer to Varys than to this joker. LOVE Beric Dondarrion!! He's PERFECT and I cannot WAIT to see the fight next episode.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) is absolute perfection!! I was waiting for this part- probably my favorite part of ASOS.

And for those Jaime Lannister haters, just wait. I hated him too and to GRRM's credit, he made me completely sympathize with his character and pity him.

So far I like the changes they made from the book this season but I do agree they are really sweeping through some things that people who only watch the show will not fully understand.

All I have to say for those of you who haven't read the books, YOU AINT SEEN NOTHING YET!

I also wish they would get to the point of Bran's dream of the 3 eyed crow. It's been 3 seasons already! Lol I'm also interested to see who that kid is (little boy from Love Actually) and why he appeared in his dream before he even met him.

Anyway...you know who really confuses me....Margorie. I get she's totally playing Joffrey. But what is her angle with Sansa? I can't figure that one out at all!

BTW - I freakin LOVE Margorie's grandma. That woman's hysterical!

I read all the books and sometimes it's annoying how they're leaving this and characters out, but what I love, love, love is how they are developing characters on the show more and differently than in the books.
