At what age did you start your child with sports?

When DS just turned 3 last year, we enrolled him in tot soccer. He didn't especially love it. It may also have been with the time. It was at 4pm on Mondays. DS stopped napping so this is not his prime time.

We have one good friend whose son is the same age (almost 4) and he does ice hockey, soccer and now t ball.

At a bday party this weekend, our new friend was raving about this place for golf lessons. She started her son at age 3.

My oldest DS is almost 3.5. He's been ice skating & learning hockey since he was 15 months. He starts a clinic at the local rink this month 1 dat a week. Tball he will start when he is 4 bc that'd the league regulations even though he can throw & hit without a tee.

DS will turn 5 in a month. Last fall we did soccer and now we are doing a clinic for 6 weeks that does a new sport each week (first week was basketball, this weekend I was hockey). We have signed him up for T- ball in the spring and will probably do golf lessons. He asked for the golf lessons after asking for clubs during XMas. These sports are usually on Sat morning. Everything is with our town recreation center (NJ).

He is in full time daycare so our feeling is we want to expose him to different sports but we also don't want him to feel like we are carting him all over the place. I think it gives him a bit more focus.

DS is 3.5 and looking into having him start soccer. I would have started earlier, but we missed registration.

4-soccer, tball
5-tennis, basketball, golf
at 6-he is still into all of them
Golf is okay-but he finds tennis to be so much more exciting.
i haven't gotten him more golf lessons-we are going to wait till 7 to do more with it, now he just goes to the range and hits a bucket.

We started DD in soccer last spring - she was just over 3 (turned 3 in March, soccer in May). She was Ok with it, but didn't love it. We signed her up for winter soccer which started right after the new year and she LOVES it! Doing way better with it now. A few months realy makes a difference!

I think DS was about 3 when he started soccer in his daycare/preschool. When he was 4 he started another program which focused on a different sport each month.

He just turned 5 - and started karate.

Our area doesn't have programs that start that early for soccer, tball, etc.

DS is 3 and does karate at daycare and takes swimming lessons (and is doing pretty good with them).

My boys just turned 4 in Nov and started basketball at the same time. They did not do well. we are enrolling them in t-ball for Spring and I think they will like that better since they have more experience.

We just enrolled DS in baseball and he'll be 3.5 when it starts.

great question b.c dd just turned 4 and not really competitive or into playing sports. i thought it would be a good idea to get into playing something so she can catch some sort of atheletic bug. she is really into dancing, so we will enroll her in dance in september. i was thinking to put her in soccer though.

Ds started soccer two months before he was two and swimming around the same time. He still does swim once a week and we will start soccer again in the spring. We will keep with the swim long term and maybe the soccer. At five we will start lacrosse and six he will do surfing and sailing.
