Question about childcare
Hello ladies....I figured you all could help me out with this question.
I am due Feb 3, and plan to stay home for 8-12 weeks....then DH will stay home another 4 weeks. I am a teacher so that leaves about a month or 2 max that I would need childcare before the summer when I am off.
I don't really want to start daycare then for a month or two....so looking for recommendations of people or how to go about searches for something in someone's home, or maybe even coming to our home. I have noooooooooo idea the price range of either option.
I live in whitestone queens, and would prefer care around the house, over where I work in brooklyn.
So any help or suggestions on how to go about this would be great. I figure I need to start looking into this really soon if not yesterday.
TIA ladies.

Re: Question about childcare
I would try care.com or sitter city Maybe you could find a well qualified college student who gets out in May?

Question about childcare
In your home care is about $14 an hour. I agree with the previous poster to try care.com or sittercity.com.

Wow $14 an hour??!!! If we needed An 8 hr day tumes by 2 weeks. That's only a couple hundred less than I bring home. If that's the average An hour than I don't know if in home is an option
What is the average for something not in home or even daycare weekly?

Re: Question about childcare
from what im hearing like 350 a week?
you are going to need daycare for sept right? some places only have a certain number of infant spots so you will need to sign them up ahead of time anyway.
unless you find an in home person, but wouldnt you want to look for someone who you would use in sept too?

Re: Question about childcare
i am in a similar situation... due 2/8 and plan to stay home for 12-16 weeks. i then have my mom who is a teacher willing to watch the baby for the entire summer but we have those 2 months in the middle to figure out what to do with baby.
i was on care.com and it seems the cheapest price is about $10 an hour for in home care. I have a long commute so we would need someone at the house for about 10 hours per day...so its about $2000 which is just not feasible.
we met with a few daycare centers and they all seem to be willing to let us take the child out for the summer months and have the spot waiting for them in Sept so that is what we opted for. we found the daycare centers to be about $320 per week (some more, some less, but that was the average price for 8-6)

Oh well that is good to know about daycare. Maybe I should start looking into that option even if it is for a short time until the summer. Now just finding one in queens that takes infants.

Question about childcare
If you want daycare, highly recommend kiddie academy in whitestone. A nanny will cost a minimum of $12/hr but more often between $14 and $18.

Do you know the price range for them? I think I am going to contact them on Monday. Especially since it is right in Whitestone which is what I need.

Where in Queens are you?
I am in Whitestone. But open to places in queens that are on my way to work in Brooklyn. So other areas like flushing or Glendale.

Question about childcare
My DS is in Precious Moments Daycare in Maspeth. $875 per month and open 7.30 - 6pm. They take infants. DS is going since September and we love it so far. Not sure if this is out of the way or not though. It depends on where in Brooklyn you are going.

Oh wow!! That's is near DH job. But he goes to work so early that he wouldn't be able to drop her off. And I work in east ny so not on the way. But that is a great price!
