Toddler Bed vs Twin Bed

When did you move you toddler out of his/her crib and into a toddler bed? Did anyone skip over the toddler bed and just go to a twin bed?

We moved DS at 23 mths into a Toddler Bed. His crib converts to a full size, but we felt more comfortable doing toddler bed first because it was lower to the ground and he can get in and out by himself with no problem.

We converted DD's crib to a toddler bed when she was 3y 4m. She is now 4y 2m and still in her toddler bed. She's so content in there so we never bothered to get the twin bed yet however, we have another baby due in March and we need the crib so she'll be moving into a twin bed probably this January.

We switched DD from her crib to a twin at 25 months

DD was 2.5. We went right to the twin bed.

My idea originally was to just get the bed rails for the twin bed but I didn't like them. They weren't ideal for her getting in and out. She was potty trained so she needed to be able to get out if she had to go to the bathroom. So - I put her crib matress on the floor for a few days, to protect her if she fell out, until she adjusted to the bed.

DD went from the crib to a full size bed at 13 months...I know this is not the norm but it was her choice - she literally quit the crib - she wanted her space

DS is 32 months and we are planning to transition him in the next few weeks. Our crib does not convert, so we are planning on putting him in a twin bed with a bed rail. Fingers crossed!

DD went from a crib to a toddler bed at 20 months. If she were older, we would've gone straight to a twin. Her crib converts to a toddler bed, but we needed it for Baby #2!

Crib to twin bed with no toddler bed. Needed crib for next sibling but even if we didn't we wouldn't have bothered with a toddler bed. My family never used a toddler bed for anyone. Pillows on the floor or railing if needed.

My nonna would even say just to roll a towel under the mattress to roll towards the wall and the kid will never roll off. My nonna is too funny. She says "do you think we had money growing up. Either everyone got shoved onto one bed or slept on the floor. We had no money so we made due and no one had a toddler bed" She also gave birth to 8 kids eating unpasterized cheese, cured meat, raw fish, wine during all pregnancy. Old school. Gotta love her.

No joke about the rolled towel under the matress. Try it, we never used a rail. Dd never fell off once onto the pillows.

Toddler Bed vs Twin Bed

We converted DS's crib into a toddler bed 1 month after he turned 2 because he jumped out of his crib and slightly fractured his wrist. He will be 4yrs old next month and we just switched him to a twin size bed in October. His crib converts into a full size bed but we don't have the room for a full so we bought a twin.

All my kids went straight from crib to twin bed. They were:
#1- 17 months
#2- 15 months
#2- 18 months

DS started climbing out at 27 months so we moved him. We put him in a toddler bed because our neighbor had given us one.

My twins went into toddler beds at 2.5 years. They've been asking for big beds, so they will get them for hannukah this year.
They will be 4 at the end of December.

My 20 month old is still in her crib.

We went straight for the full sized bed a month before his 3rd birthday (his crib converts) with side rails. I felt a toddler bed would be a waste of money. A regular bed they can get more use out of and I didnt want to keep buying beds. He's done really good with it. We have a half box spring, which helps with the height.

we took the side off his crib (i guess making it a toddler bed) at 11months.
at 23 months we got him a twin bed. we put rails on it so he wouldn't fall off. he's not 26 months and loves the space he has.

25 months from crib to toddler bed. Just took front off and put a bed rail. Maybe when shes 3 we will convert to full size bed.
