Nanny that killed those 2 Krim kids...
The nanny is guilty period. But there's always a back story..it doesn't justify the crime but helps understand why someone snapped. I work in an industry similiar to the dad and ive yet to meet more than a handful of nice Execs. So I can imagine what she went through, the weak break and dhe broke in the most horrific way that deserves extreme punishment.
I dont mistreat people by nature but especially caregivers and people touching my food.

I read the book out years ago "The Nanny Diaries" which I think was a true story based on a NYC nanny who was treated like garbage. I am sure there are many out there who are treated this way.
This still doesn't come close to explaining what she did, though. I can see maybe stealing your employer's jewelry or something if they mistreat you or pay you slave wages (not that this is justified either), but hurting/killing the kids? Usually, they are the bright spot in your life when you have a job like that.
The only "explanation" is mental illness, in my mind. I know it is scary and hard for parents who are currently looking at hiring nannies now given this case. But I read plenty of stories in the news about relatives hurting kids, boyfriends/girlfriends/stepparents beating kids to death. Look at Andrea Yates, SAHM. She killed her own kids! She was mentally ill. I bet all of these cases are due to mental illness and/or substance abuse. Most times, it is a friend or relative of the parents of the kid. Or even the parent themselves!!

The truth is that despite a very good salary, bonuses, nice gifts, vacations and so on there is a lot more going on behind closed doors, some nannies are not treated very nicely , lots of times they are used and abused , treated like slaves. But this doesn't mean that they go and start killing people , kids. They either stay and take it , or they quit. I agree. I know firsthand quite a few nannies that were treated like absolute garbage. My jaw would drop upon hearing some of their stories. Unfortunately many stay and take the abuse bc they are live in and have nowhere else to go  .
this is true. I was a nanny in the city for years so I know things get crazy and some nannies go through hell , even if from the outside it seems like they have the best job in the world.
I remember when I first started looking for a nanny job, I interviewed with a family on LI , it was a huge house, they had 3 kids, they wanted me to wake up at 4 am every morning and clean the first floor before waking up their 2 kids and getting them ready for school, they wanted me to clean some more , do everyone's laundry , run errands while kids were in school (4 hrs) then pick up the kids and so on, then make dinner every night. Yes they were willing to pay very well, holiday bonuses, travel with the family, sick days, vacation days... But it was a lot of work . Way too much for one person to handle. They basically wanted all in one (nanny, housekeeper,cook) anyway, I wasn't desperate , so I declined , but I often think of them and wonder if they found someone, which I'm sure they did , there is always someone desperate who is willing to do it all and more... In situations like this there is a lot of resentment and anger , but again , you have to be mentally disturbed to do something as horrific as this nanny did.

YEs. Mental illness is definitely a factor. We never know the history of everone we meet and what the catalyst may be.

So an evil, child murderer says she was mistreated. She is credible, why? Second, even if she didn't have the greatest work environment, it in NO way offers any justification or explanation for the HORRIFIC crime she committed.

Sorry, I could care less what her conditions were. They could be yelling at her or rude. That does not justify murdering two children. Lots of people have horrible bosses. that provides zero excuse. My friend is friends with the family and went to the memorial. She is devastated and had nothing but wonderful things to say about this family. Sorry, she could have quit.

I've been staling the news for this story. It's just horrific. I too felt like it got burried becuase of the hurricane.
I don't understand this at all. The nanny has to be mentally ill. I've worked jobs where I was underpaid, unappreciated and treated like a slave..i never in my wildest dreams even thought "maybe I'll kill their children or ever them"
I cna't imagine what the parents are going through. For the nanny to basically blame the parents is horrendus. " You were mean, so I killed our kids"??? who does that!? Those children were inoocent. How did she not form a bond with them? how did she not love them like her own?

When the nanny, who was in financial duress, asked for more money (she was reportedly paid $18/hr), they offered her instead the option of more hours doing housework. This apparently infuriated and insulted her. (These are reports from detectives who questioned the nanny in the hospital).
I see a woman with high expectations who cared about how her children were being treated. Isn't it the prerogative of the mother/employer to tell the employee what her expectations are? Why would she give a woman whose work she was unhappy with a raise? This woman was with the family for 2 years or so.
Reports say the nanny was threatened that if she did not improve they would terminate her. I think the mother's mommy instinct kicked in, but unfortunately too late.

This woman is disgusting piece of garbage. I dont care if they worked her 20 hours a day, without food or bathroom breaks. WTF would you kill innocent children who had nothing to do with it? She is the reason I believe in the death penalty.

Especially since she was with them for what... 2 years? I mean, there is a serious bond that grows after all that time... I am a nanny and am in my 3rd year with my family and I seriously cried all the way home on my last day when I thought I wasn't going to go back to work for them anymore (i became a mommy and wasn't sure how it all would play out). I knew it would be hard but the reaction that I had told me that I just couldn't leave because I love them all so much... So I def agree... How could you not have a bond?!?! What causes someone to just snap like that... It's so sad

Maybe it's similar to whatever snaps in the moms who kill their own children. I'm thinking of some cases where there was PPD but also that case in South Carolina where the mom let the kids drown in her car on purpose.

I grew up in manhattan and was surrounded by nanny families. This hit close to home and devastated me. I was a nanny in college and loved the family I worked with. I was with them for 3 years! They treated me well. After they moved I worked wih another family for less than a few mts and they were AWFUL! I had to quit. But to entertain any mind of thought like that doesn't come from any other place except insanity. Plain and simple.

Sounds like jealousy and anger to me....and a nut who is jealous and angry is the worst kind of disgruntled employee. She deserves to be put to death, nut or not. She is a hazard to the world, mental illness or not.

That defense rarely works because the standards to prove it are so high. I wonder what her diagnosis was ? I would imagine it would have to be psychosis for her to have any chance at a defense.

I can't stand to hear anything about this story. I have to pretend it didn't happen because I just can't bear to think that someone could actually do this to 2 innocent children. What those poor kids have to witness while the other sibling was being killed and then to be killed themselves. It's just too horrific for me to think about.
