Help me with disney Itinerary

We might be going to Disney in JAnuary. Probably will book very soon.
This is our 2nd time there with DD she will be 3.5 yrs when we go.

She loved MK last time and we will probably spend much of the time there.

We are going to be there 5 days/ 4 nights.
I was thinking this:

Day#1: Arrival day- Hollywood Studios
Maybe dinner at 50s Primetime

Day#2: MK all day
? dining

Day#3: Epcot all day (last time we only did EPcot on the last day from 5pm-closing and we regretted not spending more time there)
? dining

Day #4: back to MK
? dining

Day#5: departure day-- maybe a character breakfast depending on flight time.
? dining?

We werent planning on getting the Park Hopper this time.

SO this leaves out Animal Kingdom. Is that a mistake?

Re: Help me with disney Itinerary

I've been to Disney in January (Martin Luther King Week) and it wasn't crowded.

In my opinion, I would try to squeeze in Animal Kingdom. There are definitely a lot of attractions that your DD would enjoy at AK.

I know you mention that you aren't planning on getting a Park Hopper. Maybe instead of two days at MK you do one and then the other at AK. Unless adding a Park Hopper isn't too expensive.

Re: Help me with disney Itinerary

The best advice I got for our first trip to Disney was to book a dinner at Chef Mickey in the Contemporary and those people were 100% right! DS got to meet all the classic characters and the food was really good too. Chat Icon

We had a nice time at AK when we went - we didn't need to spend a whole day there though, we were done pretty quickly.

What time are you departing on your last day? We had a great character breakfast at Tusker house in Animal Kingdom before we did the park.

Ok. If its really worth it I'll get a park hopper. We used it last time but just for one day. So that's why I didn't know how "worth" it it really was.

We got the parkhopper last time and barely used it. We actually wasted the 4th day ticket altogether.

I personally think one morning per park is enough. We plan to do evenings when we go in December because of the holiday lights. The next time we go will probably be in the warm months and I'd prefer to lounge around the pool.

Yeah but we wont be there during the warm months so for us we will probably spend much more time in the parks than not. Just cant decide whether I should do the park hopper.

Would it be cheaper to buy an extra day as opposed to the park hopper (like 5 instead of 4)? I think the incremental price is less than a hopper - I know for 6 instead of 5 days it was only an extra $10 per adult ticket.

I always think it is worth it. We spent almost every night in MK, despite whatever park we were in during the day. It's just "home" to me at the end of the night...to see a parade, eat something, firework show, etc.

I would try to squeeze in AK if I were you. Next time we go, we are defdoing AK since we skipped it last time.

Ok great re thinking everything. Maybe that 2nd day of Magic Kingdom I will do AK in the morning then end the day at MK.

The way I also see it is...if you stay at a MK resort with monorail or boat, you can go to MK at night, be sooo close to it, even if your DD is sleeping. So for us, yes, we always used the park hopper to just get out to our home park, our favorite and closest park, MK, almost every night.

To me, nothing beats being in the MK at night and just walking down Main street.Chat Icon I have to do it first night, definitely last night and at least one or 2 nights in between.

Re: Help me with disney Itinerary

I'm in the minority, but for that short of a trip I would not bother with the hopper. If you really want to do AK I would consider skipping Hollywood Studios and doing AK that day instead. IMO, HS does not have that much stuff for the little ones.

However, I really don't think you are missing much if skip AK altogether.

I agree. To me, there's nothing like MK at night and last time we only got to be there at night once. So for this trip I want to be there more. But we aren't in disneyba huge amount of time either. Only 5 days

Re: Help me with disney Itinerary

This is what I would do if itwas my trip and we were not getting the hopper tix.

Day#1: Arrival day- Hollywood Studios (we are not big hs fans but if you want to go there think day 1 is good)
Maybe dinner at 50s Primetime

Day#2: MK all day
? dining --we liked liberty tree tavern, crystal palace is OK but my DS is not really a pooh fan.

Day#3: Epcot all day (we love Epcot!)
? dining - princess lunch in Norway is good, we also always eat at morracco with the belly dancers its a fun dinner, or I haven't been but want to try coral reef

Day #4: back to MK
? dining - maybe try downtown Disney for an early dinner there before going back to mk for fireworks. We ate at the Irish pub which was soooo good and had a step dancer show, there is also rainforest and trex

Day#5: departure day-- maybe a character breakfast try ohana or cape may cafe we loved both

SO this leaves out Animal Kingdom. Is that a mistake?
We like AK, but in two visits we have never managed to spend more than half a day there. I think if you are limited wit time and feel your DD will like he more than AK is skippable.

Thanks. Your plan is a lot of what I was thinking. We did crysta palace last year and cinderellas royal table so I did want to try something different so I am going to look into Liberty tavern.

We LOVED the princess dinner in Norway too!!! We did that last year too. My sister and her family did morocco and they said very good. I will consider.

I'm torn between HS or AK??? Is HS worth it just for the toy story stuff? Or Am I better of in AK?? My DD is obsessed with Jessie and woody!

We did Ohana last year and loved it.
In DTD we had to leave rainforest Bc dd was scared :(. But that is a good idea to use DTD for a dinner meal on day #4. I didn't think of that. Thanks!!! I heard the pub is awesome.

Not sure if you can get into this late in time but have you considered the new Be our Guest restaurant instead of liberty tree of crystal palace.

How old is your DC? Do they like shows? HS isn't great for very young kids unless they like shows. The older they are the more there is to do. So I say very young and not wanting to do a ton of shows hit AK. If your DC is older and loves shows then HS is a good bet. I recommend checking out exactly what show and what rides or attractions are at each park. See how tall your DC is so you know what they can and can't do then decide if you are only picking one. We always do both for half days. Hs was not as big a hit bc there wasn't a ton for really young ones aside from TSM, disney jr show, muppets, honey I shrank the kids play area. As they get older and taller to do other rides or don't mind louder and possibly scary shows HS becomes a bigger hit. But it really depends on personal preference and your child.

BTW not sure someone suggested getting a 5th day instead of a hopper. Not sure if they meant you can use park hop by using a second day of your tickets or not. This won't work because you can only use one ticker per day. If you want to go to a second park you need a hopper. If you are staying on the monorail it is so easy to "hop" over to MK or EPCOT at night. It is more of a pain if you have to take a bus.

One reason I like the hopper aside from using it every day -
is that if for example you plan to see the parade and use your pass at the MK but then it is pouring or a thunderstorm and you miss the parade you are either out of luck or you have to waste another whole day at that park to go back and see it.

There is a toy story ride in Tomorrowland at MK. It is very similiar to the HS one.

3yo DS did love taking pictures at Pixar at HS though. I don't remember the same photo op at MK. He is so proud of his picture with Buzz and Woody.
