How do I know if its Thrush?
I've been having some pain breastfeeding. I'm unsure if its DD's latch or if its thrush. I have very bad nipple pain when DD latches. do i go to a regular doctor or bring DD to the peds? She does not have sores in her mouth and eats like a little monster. Shes been soiling her diaper.
If you had thrush before how did you know you had it and if I'm having a latch problem should I hire a lactation consultant?

I saw white patches in DS's mouth and a diaper rash before pain appeared, took him to ped they confirmed based off white patches and gave him an antifungal med.

I had it internally and externally. My girls never got it. I was also doing more pumping then nursing at the time and once I had it, I was told to stop nursing.
My LC told me to go to my OB for a diagnosis.
I would go to your OB

If it is on your DC's tongue or mouth try scraping it. if it comes off it is just milk residue, if it doesn't chances are it is thrush.
If you have bad nipple pain, she is not latching correctly. You should have an initial sting, so to speak and then it will go away.
I would contact a lactation consultant to help you.

I started to have shooting pain in my breast i think it might be thrush. My DH has to work late tomorrow and I dont have anyone to watch DD if I go to the dr. so I guess it might have to wait until weds :(

Why don't you see if you can get an appointment with a LC tomorrow? That way you can bring DC and don't have to wait. These early days are so stressful, every day can really get to you when you're not sure of something. The LC can give you a better idea of what's going on and then you can get to the OB wednesday if you need to.

Shooting pain sounds like yeast in your milk ducts. So thrush! The good thing is that if it is only internal you can nurse. uggg I had that for so long. I was on a few different treatments of diflucan and acidolphus (sp?)
