If you have a good sleeper

are all your kids this way?

My twins have been great pretty much since early on. They are 21 months and they go to bed around 6:30 and wake up around 7 and take a good nap. I have never had to stress about bedtime. We put them in the cribs, we say night night and walk out the door.

I am pregnant with #3 and starting to worry that because I had it easy the first time this baby will be a nightmare.

So was your #2 or #3 etc baby a good sleeper too?

Re: If you have a good sleeper

Both my twins sleep well at night. That being said... only one of my twins is a good napper.

I just dont think she needs as much sleep

All 3 of my kids are good sleepers. 12 + hours every night from about 3 months old on.... #3 doesn't love naps, but I am ok with that. He will nap, but not very long.

If you have a good sleeper

both of my kids have always been great sleepers... this is JMO of course but I'm a firm believer in routine. If I stick to that routine with all my children I see no reason my future children wont be the same.

Re: If you have a good sleeper

my 1st was a terrible sleeper, but not entirely his fault. My inlaws didn't believe a baby had to nap and we made a lot of mistakes with him. But around 12 months he got better and by 15 months he became an excellent sleeper.

#2 is a great sleeper!!! But we also learned what not to do from our 1st. He sleeps 6:30pm-6:30am and takes his naps during the day. We put him in the crib, put on the sound machine and walk out. He rolls over and goes to sleep. Chat Icon

I was worried too because the twins are great sleepers! This one started STTN at 3 weeks old! He's an awesome sleeper just like my other 2!

Re: If you have a good sleeper

Yes! Both kids will sleep at least 12 hours a night. Like a PP said, routine is key! As early as 6 weeks we started with a bedtime routine, and now at 5oy and 2yo, it's really not that different.

If you have a good sleeper

Its funny you posted this question because I was wondering the same thing. DS is almost 6mths and hes just a fantastic sleeper. I keep telling myself the 2nd baby is going to be the complete opposite lol

If you have a good sleeper

Yes, both my boys are great sleepers. They STTN at 3 and 5 weeks, respectively. They both only have sleep disturbances during teething, illness, that sort of thing. They were both in their cribs from the very beginning. And they are both great nappers. My older son is now 2y8m and still naps daily, about 2-2.5 hours at home, and 1-1.5 hours at school. My younger son is 10 months old and takes 2 solid naps a day.

Re: If you have a good sleeper

My oldest was a better sleeper from nb until 2. Turn it went downhill. He was STTN at 5 weeks & in his crib from day 1. He was a horrible napper. Now at 3, we have frequent wakes in the night & he wanders into our room.

My youngest didn't STTN until about 14 months & even then it was hit or miss. He was always a fabulous napper, 3 hrs most of the time. Now at 2 years, he goes down about 8 & sleeps through but an extremely early riser at 5am.

Re: If you have a good sleeper

DS1 was not a good sleeper. He needed to be held the first 6 months and then slept in between us for a long time. He started STTN at 7 months. Once we transitioned him to a bed at 2y3m, he was fine. He just hated the crib.

DS2 is 3 months old and already STTN. He sleeps in the swing, but at least he's sleeping. Lat night, he nursed at 8:45 and he's still sleeping. Chat Icon I know it will probably be tough trainsitioning him out of the swing, but at least we're all getting some rest now.

Re: If you have a good sleeper

I had the same thoughts as you when I was pregnant with my DD! My twins were STTN by the time they were 3 months (1 month adjusted) and from then on always slept about 11 hours at night and until recently took good naps. Thankfully my DD seems to be on the same track! At 4 months she's sleeping 12 hours at night and takes a cat nap and then a 3 hour nap during the day.

I just did the same routine with her that I did with my twins and it seemed to have worked. So whatever you did with your twins do the same with #3!

Re: If you have a good sleeper

Both of my sons are good sleepers. They are 4 and 2.

Both started STTN around 9 weeks old. They rarely wake up, unless they have a nightmare. And they are usually easily soothed back to sleep.

Frankly, I think a lot of it is luck. Some kids have an easier time with self soothing than others. I always say my boys take after my DH- because that guy can sleep!Chat Icon

I'm pregnant with #3 and thinking about this too. we followed a pretty strict routine AND schedule around here and they both are awesome sleepers. 12 hrs every night and i think i have had to go into their room maybe 3/4 times since they started STTN at 4 months. (2 months adjusted) I plan to do the same with this new oneChat Icon Own crib, lights off at 730. Chat Icon

Re: If you have a good sleeper

DS (baby #1) was very colic and didn't sleep more than an hour at a time till he was 12 weeks Chat Icon DD (baby#2) was up every 2 hours to eat and started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks. Although she was up every 2 hours she wasn't a big "crier" where DS screamed constantly. Now I am pg with baby #3....I am also wondering how this will sleep Chat Icon
