Spinoff to heat-what temp for newborn?
I usually keep my house pretty cold. Before having kids, I kept it at 60-62, but since having DD I usually keep it at 64-65. However, DD was a summer baby, so by the time it got cold, I felt like she could handle that temp. I am due with DC #2 this week, and the other post got me wondering, is 64 too cold for a newborn?

DS is an Oct baby.. Pedi said 66-68 was good. Rather have the room cooler. You can always add an extra layer if needed.. But DS was a sweater!!! Usually a onesie and fleece sleep sack or pj's was good for him.

64 is soooo cold! I have older kids and don't go below 68 for them. My PED said 68-70 for babies. Last winter we tried to keep it warm for them

Re: Spinoff to heat-what temp for newborn?
When DS was discharged form hospital in March, the paperwork with instructions said keep home 75 degrees..and like many new dumb parents we did..but no more than 72 degrees because we were sweating our arses off! when I brought DS to ped. 2 days after discharge he screamed at me because DS was so stuffy and dry..I showed him the paperwork from the hospital and he looked at me like I was crazy...he told me 65 at night and 68 during the day. I never went lower than 66-67 at night because I thought it was too cold.
Good luck!

We keep our house cold too and we didn't change that when DD was born. We just layered her and used a Sleepsack at night and she was always comfortable. Our house is 62-63 at night.

ditto....68 during the day 64 at night for both my girls.....i would rather cold then hot especially for a newborn because of sids risks when it becomes too hot....so pjs and swaddle/sleepsack at 64 was perfect for my girls they never woke up cold to touch or hot to touch....they always woke up feeling warm to touch
