Ladies, please listen to your body.

When your body is asking for some rest, please do so. I'm a very active person with little or no time to rest. I have 3 girls, 2 in which take up all my energy. Monday morning, I had no desire to go to work and was feeling very tired. I fight myself and do my morning routine and off I go to work. I get on the F train and of course no one offers a sit to a pregnant women. To make the story short, I fainted and was rushed to the hospital. They did an EKG and ran some blood work but everything came out fine. Had to stay longer because I was having contrations every 5-10 minutes. Was told to drink some fluids and eat something which help slow the contrations.
I was put on bedrest for the week. So instead of taking that one day off that my body was asking for, I ended up in the hospital and have to miss 5 days of work.
Over the weekend I had told my husband that I felt my body was fighting a battle. At work, I would feel sick but as soon as I got home, I didn't feel anything. But how can I, if I have to get the girls, cook dinner, do homework, feed them, shower them and put them to bed. There's really no time for me to feel sick. I guess my body just gave up and boy did it take a bad place to give up. I'm 23 weeks and am just happy that my Chat Icon is doing wonderful. I have a cut and really bad bruise on my right knee, which it seem I landed on when I fell.
I'm on bedrest now and feeling a lot better.
So ladies, please listen to your body and also very important and I know it has been said before, NEVER think you are drinking enough water. I drink a gallon a day and was told to drink a lot more.
Thanks for readingChat Icon

So glad to hear you and LO are ok!!! I agree to try to rest as much as you possibly can. definitely harder depending on each persons situation . but still very important!

And side note...it's so frustrating when people don't offer their seat to pregnant women! I also ride the F, and 9 out of 10 times I only get a seat if someone is getting off! I can stand right in front of someone and they don't even offer the seat. They just get up at their stop.

Get some rest and feel better!!

Re: Ladies, please listen to your body.

Glad you are OK. I bet those passengers will give up their seat for a preggo next time! But in all seriousness it's true. We push ourselves to work like we aren't pregnant to prove it to ourselves or even sometimes we are scared of possibly losing our jobs (I had my boss tell me I had to work like a non pregnant person). But we need to take care of ourselves inorder to take care of out little ones.

Re: Ladies, please listen to your body.

Thanks Ladies. It was truly very scary..when my husband saw me, he freaked out because I was so pale and I had also loss feeling on my right hand. As mothers, we want to do it all for our kids but sometimes it's okay to not do it all. Lesson Learned.

Wow, that must have been scary. There are times that I feel like dropping from how tired I am, but I keep pushing through. I should start listening to my body and start taking it easy.

Glad you are ok!

it really amazes me that people would not give a seat to a pregnant woman. There are so many friggin a-holes in the world, crazy.

Ladies, please listen to your body.

OMG!!!!!!! i am so gla that you and your LO are ok! I can't stand it when no one will get up and give you a seat! I take the N train. i work in Manhattan and live in Brooklyn, the commute is 1 hour and 15 minutes long, door to door. on Monday, the train was packed, i felt awful and was visibly wobbling on my feet i didn't feel good. NO ONE offered, there was this one lady who just kept looking at me and my belly like i was going to ask her for her seat and every time i happened to make eye contact she would quickly look away. WTF is wrong with people! I had to call DH to come pick me up because i was physically unable to walk home. Once i got home, i passed out and woke up the next morning, no dinner, nothing.
Please try to get some more rest, if DH can help you even give the girls a shower/bath, that would help you at least get off your feet for awhile

Wow, how scary, I'm so glad everything is ok! I really feel for you ladies who have to take the train/subway, that can't be easy pregnant. I can't believe people don't give up their seats either, that is embarrassing.

It sounds like you have a TON on your plate! Is there anyway you can simplify some of it or get DH to take on some of it? I hope you're able to take it a bit more easy from here out! I know I start to get lots of BH and feel crappy when I push myself too much and I don't do near what you do!Chat Icon

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but glad you're ok!

Next time, ask for a seat! I know it's easier said than done, but it's better than passing out. Usually the only people who offer me a seat are older women and visibly injured men (man with a knee brace on). The younger people look away or pretend to be asleep. I've started taking the local train into the city on days I don't feel so well b/c they originate at my stop so I'm guaranteed a seat.

Yea-i always get looks from the younger women and even men. They look at the belly; then just look away and go back to reading or close their eyes! One time an eldery man offered me his seat. As much as I wanted to sit down; I told him it was ok; and that he should sit!

I also started just taking a local home. It takes about 15-20 minutes longer; but it's always a guaranteed seat!

Ladies, please listen to your body.

This post couldn't have come at a better time. I just could not make it to work today. I was feeling guilty but my throat is sore and swollen and I just feel like garbage. Decided to go to the doctor instead. They say viral and to rest and take care of myself for baby's sake. Glad I made the choice, I am so sorry that you had to experience something so serious. I totally hear what you are saying about being a busy mom. Hope you are feeling better soon. Also I hope that is a lesson to those people on the train to always give up their seat for us pregos.

Re: Ladies, please listen to your body.

Wow I am so glad u and baby girl are ok, that was def a scary situation.

On a side note, the human race just disgusts me and I cannot believe how rude people r. I am so sad that so many of u r forced to stand. I used to ride NJ transit buses and gave my seat up a few times for pregnant people while the men and everyone else read their kindles and pretended not to see.
