Need opinion on christening party start time..

so i booked DS' christening, the church is at 2pm and i booked the restaurant for 3:30pm (it is a 5-10 min drive from church).. my mother voiced her opinion saying i should have booked the restaurant for 3pm instead... do you think having the dinner party at 3:30 is too much time in between? i figured the church would take 45 mins plus pictures... thoughts?

I think the time you chose is perfect! Like you said afterwards you will most likely take pictures, talk with family, pack up your things, better to have extra time then to start rushing around.

Re: Need opinion on christening party start time..

our church starts at 2pm and our party is only a 2 min drive from the church. Im having the party start at 4. I know that there are 4 other babies being baptized the same day as dd so im not sure how long the whole process is going to take. Plus I want to take a bunch of family pics inside and outside of the church after the ceremony. Im also going to want to set up some decorations at the restaurant. So, I think 3:30 start time is fine.

I had the exact same scheudle. By the time we were done with pics, we got to the restaurant at 3:15 (the service was very short). I think 3:30 is fine but I would just ask if its okay if you show up a few minutes early.

I would check and see when they will be set up for. Ours was at 3pm and I started the restaurant at 4:30. Church was done a little after 3:30 and pictures only lasted about 15 min. Most people headed straight there. Thankfully I called the restaurant right after and they were set up early for me.

There were two other babies that day.

We had our church at 2 and the party started at 4. It ended up that we were the only baby but by the time my family got to the church, of course they were late, we ended up leaving about 3 or so. We went back to my mothers for cookies and so I could feed the baby and do some things and we were still late for the party. I think the time you chose is perfect!

I think that's fine. I'd be worried 3 pm would be cutting it too close.

Same exact situation.

Church is at 2, I booked the party for 3:30p.

I figured an hour for the mass, 15 mins for pics (our church kicks you out right away).

can you check with your church for about how long they usually last? Both my DD's christenings were over before 30 minutes. And we had at least 5 or 6 babies each time.
