Re: daycare dilemma - opinions needed
Let your parents watch her and sign up for Gymboree or something. Maybe when she is 2 or so sign her up for part time nursery school or something...

Why can't she go to preschool part time?

Re: daycare dilemma - opinions needed
I would let my parents watch her. You didn't ask - they offered, which is their prerogative. Because they watch her now 5 days a week, they understand the commitment involved. Trust me, they wouldn't have offered if they did not want to do it.
I asked my parents to watch DS until he was one and then he would go to daycare. As the time approached, my mom said she wanted to continue. I felt guilty because I felt like maybe I was pressuring her although I didn't know why I felt that way because I was perfectly fine with him going to day care. Then, we were at a party, and I overheard my mom saying that watching my DS is an honor to her, that she feels she is able to enjoy him so much more than her own kids because she's "just Grandma", she feels privileged that she is able to do this for DH and I and he is the light in her life. After I heard that, I realized it was important to her and why would I send him to daycare if she felt that way?
If you are unsure of what you want to do, maybe go with the option in the middle and re-evaluate when DD is 18 months.

Re: daycare dilemma - opinions needed
my DS has been in daycare since 10 weeks. if i had a grandparent able to watch him i would have jumped on it. 1st - avoid the germs, 2nd - great bonding with grandparents, 3rd - save money, 4th - easier on you as far as running around and packing supplies, i could go on and on. 2yo is a great age to start socialization imo. childcare is such a personal choice - good luck whatever you decide :)

Re: daycare dilemma - opinions needed
my parents have watched my kids full time, 5 days a week since I went back to work. Best thing I ever did. They love them like nothing else in this world and they love every moment. In 4 years, they have never complained because it's what they WANT to do--which is what your parents are telling you.
We saved so much money and they still take them to classes and now preschool so they haven't missed out on anything. Plus, my kids have a bond with those grandparents that would be impossible if they weren't around them so much. I think you should save the money and let your parents watch your child. She's not missing out on anything for 2 months and your parents will get an experience that not many grandparents get. You may even decide to keep her with them full time until she starts preschool. No one else could give her the love and attention that a grandparent could and although daycare is always a good option for working parents, having her with family is, IMO, the best option there it.

Re: daycare dilemma - opinions needed
My parents watch dd three days a week and she goes to daycare two days. It still kills me to drop her at daycare. She usually cries, but I know it's just for a few minutes. I honestly feel its best for her bc she is around other kids her age nd is learning and doing fun activities. She loves being with my parents, but quite honestly, they spoil her when she's there... I feel she gets the best of both worlds. Spoiled with grandma and grandpa three days and then gets to play with her peer, learn, and have some structure two days.
