I feel like my supply is low bc ive been pumping once a day bc i have weddings and events coming up - and im not getting that much when i pump. My breasts dont feel as full as they used to either. thanks for the advice!

You never get as much from pumping as nursing, so dont worry about that.

Also, at this point your boobs wont feel as full because your body is adjusting itself and used to nursing so it's more comfortable. That's totally normal!!

Check out kellymom.com for good BFing info. Everything you said is normal and happened to me and I have a great supply.

What you pump doesnt = what you're making. Your baby is more efficient than the pump. I rarely leaked or felt a letdown, and that's normal too.

As long as the baby seems satisfied, is pooping, and is hitting milestones, you're probably fine!

Hang in there mama. Sounds like you're doing fine so far!

i used to feel full and leak - and i don't anymore. does that mean theres been a letodwn? or are my breasts just getting used to nursing?

Getting used to nursing. Totally normal at the point you're out to stop leaking and feeling full (unless you skip a nursing session). As long as your baby is getting wet diapers, gaining weight, and happy, you're doing fine. Keep up the good work!!!!

I really felt like my body stopped producing enough for my babies (both times) around 4 months. It was beyond just not leaking and not feeling as full. My DD would cry out for more after feeding and I could tell she needed supplementation. Once I started supplementing, I still tried my hardest to BF, but with the weight loss I think it only lessened my supply. I tried a lot of things- oatmeal, fenugreek, etc. In the beginning, for the first 2 months, I made ample enough to store. Beyond four months, there was not enough to satiate her. I think some women have a surplus (and can pump and store for a year) and others simply don't. I guess you know if you baby no longer seems satisfied with what you are giving.

Re: Whe did you stop breastfeeding?

Thanks for all the responses! I'm still BFing my 17 month old & still loving it. I occassionally get an odd comment from a friend or fam member asking when I'll stop... I plan to stop when she stops. Glad to know i'm not alone!

Katie, there were about 2 or 3 times when I was BFing & my daughter would cry after trying to get milk (and I couldn't even pump 1/2 oz btw both breasts after 10 hrs of her not eating!) b/c she was hungry... I just kept having her try, & pumping when she wouldn't, & my supply went back up within a week. If you stop, the supply will stop, so keep trying. Also, if you take certain meds, it may affect it... one of those times, I was a bad stomach bug a few days before & it took a few days to affect my milk. Another time, I was on antibiotics. I think there was one more random time when I couldn't fig out the issue.... Just keep drinking lots of water & having your baby suck &/or pump.

Anyone here BF 2 diff aged children at the same time? Just curious as to how pregnancy affects the milk.

Re: Whe did you stop breastfeeding?

I stopped when the well ran dry at 5 months.

It was bitter sweet. I was so sad that I couldn't provide that for him anymore and it really was our special bonding time but I was also so happy to get my freedom back. DS couldn't have cared less.
