If you leave DC overnight with family
If you leave DC overnight with family do you expect to know what they did for fun or what they ate for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, where they slept? If they napped? What time they ate & slept?

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
No. I mean I might ask my mom- how was she? Did she eat her dinner? Did she give you any issues with her nap or bedtime? But I don't ask for a run down like they give at daycare. And I certainly don't ask what they did for fun, etc.

If you leave DC overnight with family
They usually only stay overnight with my parents and my mom pretty much gives me a run down about how much fun they are having and the highlights of the things they do.
She doesn't go into detail about the times/snacks/etc but, she does tell me the major things they do, what time/how long DS slept, and how he did with his meals.

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
Let me preface this by saying my DS is 3 and has never had an overnight stay with anyone. My expectations would be that they would tell me how the night went, and give me some highlights of what fun things they did, and if he misbehaved at all.
But, if he was with my mother, she would tell me blow by blow how the night went, down to what he ate and how many times he went to the bathroom. I know this because she watches him during the week, and I know what he's up to all day long.
My inlaws would never tell me how the night went, how he did or what they did together. When they come up from Florida and watch my DS during the day when I am at work, they don't even like me to call in to see how things are going. I usually have to ask my husband to find out how the day went.

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
Do I expect it? Not really. But it’s my excuse to see how the day went. “So… did she sleep well?” etc. Generally, my aunt provides more info that I want anyway, so its not an issue. Any one of those questions will open the flood gates of data. I get this:
She played (specifics how and with who Auntie or uncle) She Pooped (specific time and amount) She bathed and was dried She watched TV/Movies (with specific movie names and number of times watched) What learning exercises they did (and how long and what letters, and how they did it) When she napped, if she napped and where, in the living room, in the hall etc. What she ate (in amounts) for each meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks She played with toys (which toys specifically) What time she went to bed Time she took her night meds What time she FELL asleep (Since it differs) What specific time she woke up and how Time she took her morning meds
Seriously getting OFF the phone with my aunt is harder than asking for info! LOL
We laugh because we get poop updates every time we call. Even if we already knew “yeah we know, she pooped at 3pm” I think it all stems from the first few times when she was still only 9m-10m old. We gave her a copy of the daily sheet we got from daycare which had times fed, naps, BMs, wet diapers etc. So she sort of framed her own status based on that. Then she went overboard. We never asked her to really.
If she didn’t already, I’m sure I’d ask anyway. Just human nature “Soooo how’s the day going, what’d she do? Did she nap? For how long, what’s she been up to today?”

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
to an extent, yes, i would like to know what they ate and nap schedule. my in laws write it all down for me (i think more so because they might forget), but i don't think that's necessary. as long as i get the gist of how their day went, that's fine. i certainly don't need to know about play time unless something eventful happened.

I usually just ask how did she sleep? When she was nursing (still taking a bottle) I'd ask if she took the bottle because she was awful about it, but usually I did that when I called to check in. I guess I sort of ask in conversation what did you guys do, but nothing crazy.

Same Dd is not the best eater so I will get specifics from my mom about what she ate for dinner and breakfast ( my mom obsesses over her consumption of food more than I do ) and they generally tell me what time she went to bed/woke up and if she was good. I dont go in with specific questions - they offer up the information

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
Yes, my son doesn't stay out overnight but my mother in law watches him some days, all day and I ask all those questions. I also still send her food and snacks, sometimes she will send them back bc most of the time she cooks everything for him but I like to do it!

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
I don't really ask specifics. I do ask what time they woke up in the am...just because if it was really early I would feel bad. She usually will tell me how they were and how they ate. ie today...they didn't eat any lunch, I made them xyz and they still didn't eat.

Re: If you leave DC overnight with family
She's only stayed with my parents and my mom gives me a very detailed account of their time. She does the same when she babysits during the day.

Yes. When we left DD with my parents, they told me before I had a chance to ask.
