moms of 3-4 month olds I need help!

I saw in a pp most of you mentioned that your LOs are sleeping through the night already.
My DS is a great napper throughout the day, but at night it's a whole other story.
I try to get him settled at about 9pm, give him a bottle, and he is usually sleep by 10-11. He then gets up at 2, sometimes I give him a paci and sometimes I just nurse him (depending on if he is screaming or just whining). Then he gets up at 6 and I do the same as above. He then gets up about 8:30-9 for the day.

My ped said I can do CIO with him, I don't really want to, but the more reading up on this that I do, the more I see that sometimes 4 month olds still need that night feeding.

We're struggling over here with getting him to stay asleep. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I give him a 'dream feed' bottle at around 12??

TIA

I tried dreamfeeding DD around 2 months. She was already sleeping until 5 some nights. After I stopped she continued STTN almost every night. At 3.5 months she started waking once a night again. I've gone back to dreamfeeding and she's back to STTN. She feeds around 8, goes to bed by 9 and I do the dreamfeed around 10:30. She sleeps until 8. I'm hoping that if I stop in another day or two she'll continue to sleep. We'll see. I definitely think it's worth a try. I will add that she does sometimes wake during the night but is able to get herself back to sleep.

Have you tried swaddling or using a noise machine (or the a/c)? I found that to help a lot. Also, when DS does wake in the middle of the night I keep the room dark and quiet and I rock him while nursing in the glider. He usually falls back asleep pretty quickly. I also have him swaddled while I nurse. GL!

Are you positive that your LO is waking up and actually needing that feeding? I only ask because my dd would stir at night and I kept getting her up thinking she was going to actually wake and need to eat. Come to find out, she puts herself back to sleep multiple times a night. Once her eyes pop open and she looking around, I know she's going to want to eat so I get up at that point.

If this isn't the case, your LO just may not be ready to drop that feeding. I personally don't believe in CIO at that young. Until it becomes an attention/manipulation thing, then I'd suggest CIO

DS will be 5 months old on Friday and just started STTN somewhat consistently this past week. Every baby is different!

We put DS down around 8. He just wants to be put in his crib - no rocking, bottle, etc - with his binky. When he STTN - he goes until 5-5:30 and stays awake until his first nap.

Some babies just do not sleep through the night and there is nothing you can do to rush that.

My DS started STTN at 4 months but not all the time and now at 7.5 mons he is up 3 tiimes a night.

Sooner or later they will sleep but it really is on their time.

Can I still swaddle even though he can turn onto his side? Now that I put him in his crib I got rid of the swaddle because I noticed that he likes to sleep on his side. But when he wakes up his arms are flailing all over the place and he scratches his head. Maybe he still needs to be swaddled? I'm not sure...

My DS just started rolling over but he's not able to roll in the swaddle yet. Maybe try it for a nap so that way you're awake and can see what he does?

Re: moms of 3-4 month olds I need help!

DD2 is 3 months and gets up 2x a night to nurse. I nurse her between 7-8pm, put her down (dark room with white noise and sometimes a sleep sack). Like clockwork she is then up at 12:30am and 4:30am to nurse. I assume she wants to eat bc her eyes are wide open and she's whining; plus I've tried to just soothe her and it never works. I stopped swaddling her about a month ago when our pediatrician told me to (although I did swaddle DD1 for 4 months).

I am considering a dream feed at about 10pm to get her through the night. I know 2 feedings a night isn't awful but DD1 was either down to one feed or STTN by 3 months so I felt spoiled...and I am tired!

I found the key to DS sleeping so great thru the night was completly based on his napping during the day. I know you said that he's a good napper, but maybe the timing is of. I HIGHLY recommend the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". This book completely changed my son's sleep habits. Now he's asleep every night by 9pm and sleeps thru to 8:30/9am the next day
