I just delivered my daughter Friday night and my ankles and feet are very swollen . I did not swell before or during the process, but they are bad now...did anyone else experience this?

Yep. I had no swelling until after I came home from the hospital. It went away in about two days.

I blew up like a blow fish after I had DS.. It was so bad I couldn't walk... My feet and ankles felt like they were going to explode!!! I was told to keep them elevated and drink plenty of fluids!! It took a good 2 weeks to go away... It is normal..

My feet were gigantic. I have never seen feet as big as mine were, I couldn't even get flip flops on. It's just the fluid, it lasted about 4 - 5 days. Just keep them elevated cause if I didn't they started throbbing lol

yes...my feet looked like Fred Flinstone feet Chat Icon It happened with DD but not DS. The nurse just told me to drink a lot of water and keep my legs up. I couldnt even tie my sneakers when I left the hospital...it was that bad. It went back down to normal size about 4 days later.

I was swollen for about 1-2 weeks after delivery. I even had a hard time walking up/down stairs. I bought compression stockings and wore them around the house. It helped with the pain and to reduce the swelling faster. Try and keep them elevated as much as possible like PPs said.

Re: Btdt moms..swelling after delivery

i would just like to add something. I was told my swelling after birth was normal-when in fact it wasnt. I would talk over your concerns with your dr and listen to your own body if you think something isnt right.
so basically someones normal may not be others.
hope that makes sense.

Re: Btdt moms..swelling after delivery

Yes I had a lot of swelling with both girls before and after delievery. DD1 the swelling was worse but she was an August baby. I went in wearing a size 9 flip flip (which is already 2 sizes larger than I normally wore) and couldn't even get them on my feet to go home with. Took about 2 weeks to go down completely. I had c-sections which I was told makes the swelling worse. Drink lots of water and try to elevate your feet when you can.

Yes, it was really bad for a few days and totally normal.

I had zero swelling my entire pregnancy.

Yes. I was bigger after giving birth than I was pregnant. It's due to all the fluids they give you via the IV. The swelling should go down in a few weeks. Drink plenty of water and grapefuit juice, which actually helps flush out the excess water you are retaining.
