My parents will NOT let it go how odd it is that my DD (who is 7.5months old) does not have any attachment to a blanky or a stuffed animal. My niece and nephew both need their favorite blanky in order to nap and DD has no such sentimentality =)

Did your DC develop an attachment to anything as a baby? If so, at what age?

Edited for my horrible grammer =)

Nope neither child ever did. DS is 4 and DD is 16 months. I am so glad actually. I have friends that can't go anywhere without their DC's blankie, etc.

Only when he is sleeping... A flannel blanket. Probably started around 9 months. But it can be any flannel blanket..

Yes, for DS's first birthday we took him to build-a-bear where he picked out a stuffed bear, Mr. Cuddles. He must sleep with him and is very attached...he will be 4 in November. He also has a stuffed penquin that is his bff #2. He got him at age 2 from pictures with Santa...not sure what it is about him but he loves him.

When DD was born and still in the hospital my mom brought her this soft My First Dolly. It was in her incubator in the nicu while she was there and we would put it in her bassinet by her feet when swaddled, etc. At a very young age (probably 6 months) we realized how attached she was to it. Now at 2+ it is by far her most prized possesion...nothing compares to this ratty thing!

Re: Does your DC have a blanket/stuffed animal that they are attached to?

My first two kiddies didn't have anything...

But DC #3 needs to have a soft fleece type blanket to sleep (or at least it is a lot easier if there is one up against her cheek )

But if your DC doesn't have something I def don't think that's weird...I am already nervous that my third will be one that will be walking around with it's when she is older and we will have have a hard time weaning her like I hear other parents have issues...this is all new to us!

My oldest didn't really have anything, but around 2 started liking some choice stuffs to stay in bed. My 23mo early on became attached to a bunny/small blanket toy "Boo". She has to have her for bed.

my oldest who is now 5 did not form any attachments to anything until he was 2, and only in the house. it was a blanket.

my DD formed an attachment to a blanket when she was 1.5 and again it was when she was home. she tried to bring it outside the home but i didn't allow it.

i don't find it odd or strange. some do some don't

DD is 1 and she doesn't have anything. I leave Minnie and a big stuffed bear on top of her crib and she pulls thme down and plays with them and hugs them in the morning or after naps, but she doesn't miss them if they are not there.

DD doesnt have anything. I think the only thing she is attached to is having her 2 pacifiers in her crib when she goes to sleep.

My 10 month old DS hates stuffed animals. My mom is the same way. She took him to Disney store and every stuffed animal she gave him, he looked at and threw on the ground. Works for me, I don't need them in the house!

My DS is 3 and he has never had an attachment to a blanket or an animal. What he wants to sleep with changes nightly. Consider yourself lucky because I have known plenty of kids who have had meltdowns when the beloved item goes missing or gets torn/ruined. It's not a big deal at all to not have a favorite! I guess I'm confused why your mom would want your LO to feel like she *needed* something to fall asleep. Isn't it great she can fall asleep by herself?

Nope. My 3 yr old never did. In fact he hated anything in the crib with him.
My 1 yr old liked to cuddle with something when he goes in the crib ot he's not feeling well, but not attached to anything specific. Just something soft and he's fine.

Re: Does your DC have a blanket/stuffed animal that they are attached to?

At 7 months she did not.
She really didn't get attached to anything until over 1 year old.
Now at 2 years old she has a bear she is attached to and a blanket that she drags everywhere with her!
I think 7 months is just a bit young.

DS is 15 months and is attached to the blanket my mom crocheted for him while I was pregnant. But that didn't start until about 3 months ago when we started giving him the blanket in his crib.

Re: Does your DC have a blanket/stuffed animal that they are attached to?

no, DS is 7 months and he has no attachment to anything really...when we are out of the house there is one toy in particular that always keeps him from getting too fussy, but he doesn't need it when we are home/at bed time.

DS started getting attached to his blanket around 7 months. He was sick and DH put it over him in his crib and he pulled it closer to him and fell asleep.

He also has a stuffed frog that he's had in his crib from early on that he loves.

He has other animals too in his bed but, the blanket and the frog are the two must haves.

Re: Does your DC have a blanket/stuffed animal that they are attached to?

DD has this bunny she loves and must hold when going to sleep. It only started around 13-14 mos.

I then had to order a couple of extras from eBay as backups

Yes, but not until she was older (I think just after her 1st birthday). Before that, if it didn't play music or light up, she didn't want anything to do with it.

Oh yes. It's a stuffed dolly she got when she was a baby, now "Daisy" is her BFF. She doesn't go anywhere without Daisy and even though she'll play and carry on without her, when it's time to relax Daisy better be close by. Luckily we have 2 so we can wash one and she still has the back-up. Hopefully, she'll leave her home once it's time for school. Chat Icon

My DS started sleeping with one of the angel dear blankies at about a year old...but he only uses it to sleep. I make a point to try and leave it in his crib so he doesn't get so attached to it.

yes, birdseye burp clothes. He sleeps with 2 every nap/night

He has also recently become attached to a puppy blanket which he uses in his crib.

Both my kids are obsessed with their "dees". They are their baby receiving blankets. They both have several of them, and I thik my 2nd son got his attachment from watching my first son.
