Ugh, Vitamins for Toddler
Of all things I never thought I would have to read the labels on Vitamins with a fine tooth comb!
I have been giving DS Flinstones Vitamins for a while. While in the drug store today I was looking for a chewable for myself (while I was picking up a new bottle of flintstones complete). I looked at the bottle of centrum chewables (I have an oversensitive gag reflex since pregnancy with DS) and low and behold...ASPERTAME! I quickly checked the flintstones, but didnt read thoroughly. ]I got back to my office and looked at the package again and saw Aspertame in the Flintstones! I went back and returned it. So, now what??? DS wont take the nasty liquid vitamins (I have stains on my rug to prove it). I am going to call my ped tomorrow to get her suggestions, but was wondering what some "crunchy" moms used? I refuse to give DS Aspertame...Im disgusted that they would put Aspertame in a childrens vitamin! Heck, you know what...if you must, put real sugar in it if you want to make it palateable...but chemincals that kill brain cells and cause neurological disorders???!!! WTF???

That's crazy, I can't believe that! I would be livid! We use prescription fluoride chewables.

In my crazy attempts to change the world, I actually just contacted the company about this. I wonder if they have a perscription chewable without the flouride. We use bottled water which has flouride in it...plus DS hasnt fully mastered the spit yet with his toothpaste, so Im sure some of that gets swallowed too...dont get me started on toothpaste!

Good for you!! I think the only reason it is prescription is because of the fluoride. Without the fluoride, you wouldn't need a prescription. We still use fluoride free toothpaste because of that whole not exactly spitting thing!

I use those too. My ped. Said they are fine as long as they get fluoride, which we use a mouthwash with fluoride for.

Ughh that's just wonderful!!!
I just started DS with vitamins a few months back and the Flintstone gummies are the ones we use.
The last bottle we bought is half way done - going to have to look for another brand to replace it.
