Can she be seeing stuff on tv? I agree with eveyone and think taking her to talk to a professional might be good.

I would definitely seek out a professional to help with this. You need to understand where and how she is being sexualized and make sure it doesn't stem from an abuse situation. I "think" some of the behavior is typical, I also find some to raise some red flags.

Have hesitated asking this here, but could use advice...

I admit the 1st thing I thought of was abuse as well, but then I remembered my mental health rotation and over sexual children, especially at a young age, is a hallmark for some pretty severe mental health issues. I would go see a child psychologist right away and explain everything. The good news is maybe it's normal, maybe her friends at school are telling her things, maybe she's just curious, or maybe there is a real chemical imbalance occurring you caught early. Something is definitely off here and you recognized it. Like I said my thought is a medical mental health concern not necessarily abuse. The 7 year old that was on Oprah.....her parents had concerns and I believe it was her over sexual behaviour and imagination/attention seeking that caused them to get her seen. Now I'm not saying she is schizophrenic, but many thought abuse as well and that wasn't the case.

Absolutely no judgement here but the abuse thought entered my mind as well (coming from outside of your home, if that were the case). I hope & pray she just somehow saw something on tv somewhere. If I were you I think I'd talk to a professional. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Lots of Chat Icon your way.

Have you looked at her friends? especially friends with older sisters. I know my 6 year old started to mimic stuff earlier this year that she had picked up from a friend at school who turned out to have an older sister and watched older kids programs such as ICarly, victorious etc.

Remember at this age they are smart as whips so while they may not be watching inappropriate t.v...if they pass through the room while you are watching an adult show they may zone in on something that you would not bat an eyelid at but to them it might be something they have not seen before and therefore spikes their curiosity...

Does your DD watch Barbie DVD's? I know it might sound silly but my DD was watching the Barbie christmas show DVD the other day and after she watched it she was strutting around the room doing all sorts of poses and then I remembered there were two older girls in the movie and there was some reference to guys and a band - I was working as she was watching it...

Bottom line is there are influences from everywhere no matter how careful we are with our kids.

It might be no harm talking to a pro about this as its obviously worrying you.

ETA - I just read your entire post and see that she does have friends with older siblings so you never know what she is learning from them for sure.

The more I read, the more I wound wonder what goes on with her friend's siblings. Is she ever alone with them? I know as a child, we had friends (male friends) with older male siblings and us younger kids def saw and heard things we should not have known at our age (staring with your DDs age and up).

This was my thought, too. Does she spend time at that house often?

No, she's never at that house, the little girl always comes here. However, the more I think about it the more aware I am that a lot of her friends do watch a lot of adult programming. I posted a few months back about a little girl we had over (never again!) who was explaining the entire plot of True Blood to me!! I try to shelter her at home but I don't know what happens when her friends are talking to each other at school, recess, etc.

I am going to at least consult with a child therapist. Posting here made me realize something is not quite right. I apigging to take it down in a few (just because I don't want to e remembered long term on here as the poster with THAT kid but thank you SO much for all the thoughtful and non judgmental responses.

When I was a kid, we had one of those black boxes. We got everything! I wasn't overly interested in the sexual stuff but many of the shows and movies had sexual scenes. I did not mimic anything like that until I was way older (teens).

I can't help but think someone is being sexual with your DD. I hope it is learned behavior from one of her peers who has learned it from an older person vs an older person touching your DD.

I would ask questions but not in an accusatory way. ie. Mommy likes to kiss daddy. Who have you kissed? Kind of like a game?
