Starting Solids?

How old was your baby when you introduced solids? (such as baby oatmeal)

Re: Starting Solids?

We started rice cereal at 4 months. Then slowly started introducing vegetables then fruit.

Re: Starting Solids?

Just started this past week or so. So a tad over 4 months in age. Pediatrician gave me the go ahead - he was 16.5 lbs at his 4 month visit, and that has all been solely on BM. I knew he was ready too, because when we started with the rice cereal, he gobbled it up completely - no pushing it out with his tongue and was looking for more.

I made a bunch of pureed veggies too, and we added them to the mix. Butternut squash we've tried. Also tried banana. Will give a go to sweet potato and avocado soon. And apples and pears as well.

Re: Starting Solids?

6 months, disagreed with pediatrician but based on my own research this what I felt comfortable with.

Starting Solids?

We started DS 1 at 4 months and will be doing the same with DS 2.

I started with rice cereal and then oatmeal and then moved straight to fruit.

Same--6 months. I felt no need to rush, and DD was doing just fine on BM/formula.
