hiccups & reflux correlation
so i'm 35 weeks pregnant and my baby has been getting the hiccups quite often, sometimes up to 4 times a day! i read that it means it's a sign of a healthy baby, but i also found a few articles relating it to reflux in babies after their born. soooooooooo, did anyone's child have the hiccups a lot in utero and have reflux afterwards?

Re: hiccups & reflux correlation
im 37w and my baby gets the hiccups 2-3 times a day as well. I was worried but my doc said its a sign that they are healthy and their lungs are working. I hope it doesnt have anything to do with reflux !!

Re: hiccups & reflux correlation
My DD had hiccups daily at the same time pretty much daily. Now that shes here she still has them and shes perfectly fine. No reflux. Of course every baby spits up but nothing that would be reflux.
I think every article you read puts a spin on good and bad. Its really enough to make you nuts as a new parent.

Re: hiccups & reflux correlation
Both my girls had hiccups on a VERY regular basis while I was pregnant. They both had reflux and needed to be on medication for it.
They actually both still get the hiccups on a very regular basis (at 3 and 5 years old) and we happen to be at the ped when my older one got them and she commented on how there is a correlation with hiccups and reflux.

Re: hiccups & reflux correlation
R had hiccups every 5 seconds, or so it seemed. He had gas issues til we got him on the right formula.
C rarely had hiccups in utero and had reflux - not painful reflux, just lots of spitting up.

Re: hiccups & reflux correlation
My baby didn't have any hiccups in the womb- at least I didn't feel any that I knew were hiccups. She had reflux. So for us, no, it wasn't a correlation.
