Im going nuts-- over this milk allergy reflux thing

I know Ive posted about this before but tonight Byran had some flecs of blood in his spit up again and I dont know what from. The Dr said that this is the milk allergy thing and Ive been on this diet for about a month now. Im trying to be sooo good and I dont know what I ate to cause this tonight but Im driving my self up the wall and Im going to swtich to formula soon because I feel like my diet is causing my boy pain. I dont know what to do anymore. Chat Icon Chat Icon

A question for those who stopped breastfeeding at -- did you feel guilty and depressed about it ? I wished that I could continue longer but I just cant. I cant do this diet anymore and I dont want to be the reason Bryan is in pain. I cant not eat out at restaurants and give up everything that I love to eat.... I gave bfing almost 5 months but its becoming really hard Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Im a little depressed about losing the bonding aspect but I cant continue to stress myself out either. Thanks for letting me vent...

I totally understand your frustration.
Could you pump and store your milk for say a week or so and just give him formula and see if anything changes? Maybe its not your milk and something else. From all your posts it sounds like you are being so good about the diet.
Honestly though 5 months is a long time to have stuck with it for all that you've been through. Its only been 6 weeks for me and some days I want to throw in the towel but I am trying so hard to keep at it for at least 6 months plus my daughter loves nursing and I just would feel too guilty about it this soon.
You're a champ in my book and I'm sure you'll feel guilty at first but if it helps your son feel better I am sure your guilt will fade. Be prepared though the hypoallergenic formulas are expensive and disgusting. DD will not take the powder which is cheaper so we have to buy the ready to feed. We just ordered 24 8oz cans online for $63. That's about 3 weeks worth and I am only using it to supplement. Chat Icon

I feel exactly the same way. Sometimes I feel like I am doing more harm than good by continuing to BF. I just can't seem to see any consistent improvement. (Although she is still sick with a cold so that could be getting in the way) I am considering pumping and dumping for a week or so and giving her alimentum. Not sure how that will go over since she is only comforted by nursing. I tried to have DH put her to bed tonight and there was some serious HOWLING!!! It is very stressful. For example I have to go into work tomorrow for the first time and it took me 1/2 hr to pack my food for the day.

We should really get together with the other milk free nuring moms. Atleast you could then talk it out and make a clearer decision as to whether you should top BFing or not.

Emilain????....any responses to the get together?

I'm going to post an invite on the boards and lets see what the repsonse is, if not, I;d be happy to get together with both of you!! I coul possibly do this Saturday!!

Antoinette: list what you ate yesterday and this morning, and FM me with it, I'll review it for you, thee may be some hidden milk protein somwhere.

Also, ladies... go onto peapod.com, I do all my food shopping on this site, the cooll thing is when you pull up an item you can double click on it and it will bring up all the dietary info, including ingredients. Even if you don't use this site for home deivery, you can still educate yourself in the comfort of your own home by reading the ingredients in your favorite foods, spices, etc.
