What's your preference? pros and cons you think?

I cant decide and DH is impartial...

Depends on what you want to do at the baby shower. Do you want cutesie games and a while opening presents? Probably better to do just women. Do you want a less formal sort of gathering? Guys are going to be super bored at a "usual" shower IMHO. But if you made it more like a bbq where there's guy food and tailgating type games along with some "usual" baby shower stuff, it could be more enjoyable for everyone. More of a "celebrate baby" event than a "watch the presents get opened" event.

We want to play some games - we even think some games would be fun if it was a couples thing... and perhaps open gifts ( not stuck on the gift thing) we want to have music and perhaps even some dancing...

I dunno I am a mess - I want a little of everything but cant decide.

This is supposed to be fun to plan and instead im frustrated

Some games like chug the bottle or melt the baby out of the ice cube are fun with guys and girls -- especially since guys can get kinda competitive and rowdy (in a fun way). I think you can get really creative with a J&J shower, and if you have a lot of friends of both genders, it's fun to be able to have them all there.

My sister had a Jack and Jill. They are common in many cultures and hers was just a big party. It started at 4 and when I left at 11 she was just starting to open presents....it ended at 3am.

There was nothing shower about it except that some of the decorations and the gifts.

I think if you do it I would go that route cause every guy I know would not be into the shower games.

I had a Jack & Jill shower.

With my second my girlfriends did a sprinkle for me that was just the ladies.

Personally, I like an event with just the ladies. Just seems more fun

I find traditional showers to be really boring and I think a Jack and Jill would be much more fun. Of course you'd have to change it up from the normal sit quietly and eat, play a few games then watch gifts be opened for an hour. I really wanted my showers to be Jack and Jill but DH shot the idea down very fast. I think a back yard BBQ or even having it in a restaurant and making it more of a party atmosphere would be a nice change. I love the idea of a Jack and Jill shower.

We're having a Jack and Jill shower. I thought it would be more fun to invite everyone and just make it a casual party to celebrate the baby. DH wasn't into the idea at first because he had never heard of coed showers, but now he's actually excited about.

more traditional with popoy diaper game and things like that..keep it ladies

It is definitely a matter of taste. I personally was dead set on a J&J shower because for me personally, I feel that a baby shower is about family and hubby should be part of it. As well, I think poopy diaper games etc are very corny and don't find any "fun" in them so would never participate in them (I know lots of people who love them so its a matter of taste). Ours was a celebration, casual affair with family and friends, drinks (not for me :) and food. If you are looking for a more "shower" type then I would say to have a just ladies shower. Good luck!

I just had mine adn it was jack and jlll. Most men and even women would be bored with jsut anormal shower. Games were planned, but dh got too drunk to host, so games went by the waste side. Basically turned into a big bbq, with music, andgood food, and good company.. oh yeh.. and baby gifts..

Iwent to one coed short and it was basically a big party, no games. They had a dj and there was a lot of dancing and food. It depends on what you want to get out of it, I don't even remember them opening gifts.

I was brought uo on jack and jill showers. Its a big ass party with family and friends. They always had the big chair unbrella and well and gave out a favor. Never any games. Once it came time to open gifts the guys would go to another room. When over they would come back to for cake and dancd the night away. It wasnt until i met met my husband and came on the broads did i find out that most think j&j are tacky and should be for women only. Then again i didn know youre only supposed to have one shower in per lifetime

I'm not a fan of J&J.. I feel like a shower is just time away with the girls.. plus I know when I take my hubby to J&J's he's not really into it
