has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
I want DH to be there but i of course don't want him to be the only guy there. So i was thinking that we would have a jack and jill baby shower. Has this been done before? TIA!

Re: has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
I wasnt gonna go full out jack and jill but I was gonna have one table for all the guys at the restaraunt (my Dad, DH, the other womens husbands, etc).
Then because of limited space and $$ I changed my mind lol. But I know its been done before!!

This is true for me too. I wanted to do this but decided it wouldnt be worth the extra cost to have the men there

Re: has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
I'll be honest, I'm not a fan only because I get bored at showers easily (even my own), and I know that my friends do too. I think the only people that really enjoy them are the grandmas and great aunts and such. Anyway, I wouldn't want to subject the DH's of friends to the boredom. That being said, if you really do want DH there for the whole thing, (and you can just have him stop by for a little bit at the end, that's what my DH did), and want to have his friends as well, maybe have it at a place where there's a separate bar area so they can go watch a game on TV and hang out while you're all playing games, and then maybe they can just come in to eat.
Another thing, I ended up having a jack and jill and complete family baby shower by default, as my baby shower last year was a saturday in January when there was a HUGE blizzard. I have family that drives in from all over and most couldn't end up making it, so my mom went ahead and asked anyone that was local to just bring their whole families with them, DHs and kids, because she was already paying for a certain amount of people and the room would have been almost empty with the amount of women there that could have weathered the storm. It ended up fine but I know the guys would have rather been anywhere else, they just came to be nice, and I did appreciate that.

We did. The shower was at my parents house and it was very causal. We didn't do any games or anything like that. Just food and talking. When we opened gifts, the men weren't really interested, so most of them hung out in another room. I loved it that way, and I know my DH enjoyed it too.

I agree with Ruby, I can't imagine most men would have any interest in coming. I could see DH and the grandpas, but I think my friend's husbands would rather have their back waxed than attend a baby shower.

Re: has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
My SIL insisted on throwing me a Jack & Jill shower even though I didn't want one.
To be perfectly honest, all the guys hated being there.
Unless you are making it less of a "shower" and more of just a casual get-together with alcohol and food, I don't think most men would want to go anyway.
Definitely no games or opening presents.

There are no men in my life that would enjoy that - ESPECIALLY my DH or my dad or my FIL, lol they would probably RSVP no!

Re: has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
I was at one before and honestly it was a little awkward for the guys. one of them brought a tub of legos (yes, they are grown men ) and they all played with legos in the corner while all the girls watched the mom-to-be open gifts and such. they guys just didn't really know what to do there.

Re: has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
thats funny I was thinking this too (though a long time from now) bc DH said he wanted to come and I told him he couldn't but he has a bunch of female friends from school (grad and college and he said he would want them to come . . I said maybe he should have his own shower

Re: has anyone done a Jack & Jill baby shower
I think if you want DH to be there, you don't necessarily have to have a Jack and Jill shower.
I've been to plenty of showers where the father-to-be showed up at the end when presents were being opened and for dessert and coffee.

Just crashing, but DH and I went to a friend's similiar to this. It was outside. No games, but just hanging around. When she opened gifts the guys were drinking beer talking on the other side of the deck. It actually was fun hanging out, but it was a group of us friends and we weren't paying too much attention. Personallly I get bored at any showers.
