Re: how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

Both sets were at the hospital when I had DD and we had many other family members come visit. Then both sets of grandparents were over several times in the first week. And we brought her to my in-laws for the first time the following week.

Grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends all visited while we were in the hospital and when we came home for the first month or so very frequently. I had no problems letting anyone hold DD as long as no one was sick and they washed their hands.

Ditto...DD is 11 days old today, and we have had a lot of visitors, all of whom have held her. The grandparents were all there at the hospital, and at our house the day we came home, as we my sister, BIL, and nephews.

my parents were in the waiting room for DD1 and saw her about 20 min after delivery. for DD2, they were home with DD1 and drove in when she was born, so maybe 40 minutes after delivery, still in delivery room. (DD1 visited there too). His parents who are OOS flew in at different times, starting at 10 days old for DD1, and 3 weeks for DD2. For overnight guests, I honestly would prefer a little longer--like 6 weeks at least. Not for germs- but for my comfort and having to be a host. For germs, I wouldnt have anyone with kids or in a germy environment until after 8 weeks or so.

how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

Both my mom and my ILs (as well as various siblings) were at the hospital when both my boys were born, so they met and held them immediately. We didn't wait at all for anyone to come to our house and meet them, or to go to other people's houses.

I let everyone hold her in the hospital! As long as no one was sick and everyone washed up, I didn't care. The only person who I said had to wait to visit baby was my mother in law. Simply bc she was going to have to stay a week with us since she lives in FL. I wanted myself and dh to get the hang of things without having someone coming in telling us what we should or shouldn't be doing.

They held her in the hospital after they cleaned their hands.

His family didn't see AJ again until Thanksgiving that year. So she was 3m old the next time they saw her

Re: how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

My parents saw DS within a hour after he was born. DH's family came to visit over the next day or two. Other friends and family visited about a week after DS was born. DS was a December baby. Everyone just washed their hands before holding him.

I'm delivering within the next few weeks. My parents plan to be up here watching DS. They will be at the hospital the first day. I'm not sure when DH's family will see the baby. I assume at least some of them will visit us in the hospital.

Both of our families came to the hospital on the first day. Only a few people held DD b/c she was in NICU and we could only bring in one person at a time.

I came home on Saturday, the next day there were over 30 people in my house, at least 10 kids. Every single person and child held DD. It is just how we do things Chat Icon its one of my best memories after her birth. It was a wonderful experience and everyone was really sweet to me since I was still obviously recovering from childbirth.

how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

Grandparents, my sis and bil were all at the hospital the night she was born, they all held her the next day when I was situated in my room. They visited each day (CSection I was there for 4 days). They day we came home we didn't have any visitors, but after that day it was a steady stream of friends and family and everyone held DD.

Re: how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

Our families, including grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and friends all saw my boys in the hospital. My kids were probably held by atleast 30 people their first two days of life. We were released from the hospital in the morning and just asked that people not come over until the evening so we had time to settle in.

my parents were at the hospital the day my kids were born and at our homes they day we brought them home. dont see why it would be an issue unless they are obviously sick.

Re: how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

My mother held her minutes after her birth.
They were in the waiting room while I was pushing and as soon as I was cleaned up and the baby was cleaned up they came in the delivery room.
They were there the next day as well.
Holding her etc.
Everyone used the Purell dispenser in the room before touching her.

The day I came home with her, they didn't come by- wanted us to have time to settle in. But they were over the very next day.
My mom even stayed over some nights to help out.

So it was never a concern with me

Re: how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

Our moms were with us through 30 hours of labor until my c-section was called.

They were allowed to visit me after I got out of recovery. Our dads visitedl the next day.

My mother in law was at my house when we got home from the hospital, she had decorated our entire house in pink streamers, balloons & bows.

My mom came over a little after we got home.

My mom and MIL helped out by coming over at 6am every morning - sometimes my mom even slept over.

Thank God for them. I don't think I would have been able to get through the first week with out them. I had a really rough recovery from my CS.

everyone saw & held the babies in the hospital. Personally I couldn't imagine telling my parents or mother-in-law or even my siblings they couldn't because of "germs".

DS#1 born in Jan, DS#2 born in March

Re: how long did you wait until grandparents visited dc?

Both sets of Grandparents and my sister held both my DS in the hospital about 1/2 hour after they where born. Also held him when they came to visit in the hospital.

I didn't keep grandparents away at all. We see my In-laws alot so they where over the day we came home.

I did tell friends and extended family not to come over right away. I wasn't up for a ton of visitors.
The only ones I was really concerned about was other children. My nieces and Nephew didn't see either of my DS for a while after they where born.

Both grandparents were at the hospital and in the house when we came home. I brought LO to their house around 2 weeks.

We had about 30 ppl between the hospital and the first couple of days when we came home. They all held DS and I had a February baby. It's up to you as a new parents but honestly as long as they wash their hands that baby will be bundled up in the hospital so it's not like they will even be touching his/her skin. Sending the baby to the nursery would just offend me since these are ppl that are coming to meet your LO.
