New mom to be crashing

I hope you can help me. Having my first child and have no clue about diapering the baby.

Do you need a diaper cream, vaseline, or nothing? I understand that baby powder isn't good to use because it may cause asthma.

We use A and D for everyday and Triple Paste as needed. Vaseline only b/c of boy and to help with rectal thermometer and if constipated.

We used vaseline very rarely. Only when she was a little red or irritated. Usually if she looked that way we'd play with her (on a towel, bare bottomed for a while so she could get air.

We used a soft wet washcloth at first and then pampers sensitive wipes. We never used any ointments or creams.

DD never had any diaper rash - ever.

Good luck - I know it seems like such a foreign concept but you'll be a pro before you know it.

In the beginning we used A&D at each diaper change. They poop a lot in the beginning, especially if you are bf. now we use it at night and if she looks irritated.

Best diaper tips:

Ruffles out

Have the clean diaper open and underneath baby before you start the change.

Loved the pampers sensitive swaddlers, especially in the beginning bc they have the wetness indicator line.

I use A&D on a daily basis because that's what they told me to do at the hospital.

Most of the time I use nothing. In the beginning i used A&D with every change. Now i only use it if they look a little red and i use Butt Paste if they are getting a diaper rash. I do use a little powder in the summer months to help them keep dry. Especially DS.
