When To Start Tummy Time? Mobiles? Reading?
When did you start tummy time? Reading to your baby? Introducing toys /or mobiles?
My LO is 3.5 weeks old and I am not sure when to start these things.

Re: When To Start Tummy Time? Mobiles? Reading?
We started tummy time the day we brought him home from the hospital. It was on the boppy at first and only a few minutes.
We really didn't have many toys at first except a play mat. He was on it every day right from the beginning, but started to notice the toys around 3m.
Reading we've done sporadically from birth, but now at 7m we are trying to do a story every night before bed.

IMO I don't think it's ever too early to do tummy time or read to your DC.
As far as toys, they don't really "play" with anything until they are at least 3 months old or more and even then it's usually anything that makes sounds or has lights, maybe a raddle. We used to just hold things up to DS to see the lights or hear the music.

We did tummy time right from the first day, there are a few toys DS looks at but he is too young to play with them, we just started reading to him.

I read to her every night from early on..maybe when she was a week or 2? Definitely early. It was part of our bedtime routine. Now at 3.5 months, she loves holding the book and tries to flip the pages sometimes! She enjoys looking at the pictures or holding/touching the textured books. I don't think it's ever too early..they Like to hear the sound of your voice :)
Tummy time...I would put her on her tummy sometimes a little before 4 weeks. She didn't like it too much, so we mostly did it when she was laying on my chest. She liked that and would hold her head up.
Mobile was in her crib from the beginning, but she started paying attention to it around 8 weeks I think? She LOVED her playmate early on...4-6 weeks?
She started liking toys more around 3 months, but I would show her them early on, she just wasn't interested.

Re: When To Start Tummy Time? Mobiles? Reading?
We were told to only do "tummy time" in the form of the baby lying on your body face down until 4 Weeks. They said anything before that is unnecessarily forcing. If a baby that small picks up off ur shoulder or chest it is of their own will and a more minimal lift. Hth

Re: When To Start Tummy Time? Mobiles? Reading?
We started tummy time day one with both my sons. The mobile was in the crib from day one as well. I think there is no harm in reading from day one as well, good habit to start.
At 6 months, DS #2 is really interested in toys. I don't think DS #1 was into them that early to be honest, I think it's because Ryan sees Aaron playing with toys that he is interested.

Re: When To Start Tummy Time? Mobiles? Reading?
We didn't start tummy time until the baby was like 6 weeks old. My doctor didn't advise it prior to a month old. We introduced toys and mobiles right away but he couldn't see. He didn't actually start to look at anything until about 8 or 9 weeks so I wouldn't worry about the toys until then.
I started reading to him the day he came home. I try to do it every night before bed.

Re: When To Start Tummy Time? Mobiles? Reading?
We started tummy time when the cord fell off. DD slept in the bassinet for a long time, so we rarely used the mobile, and she liked to look at toys from around 3 weeks. Her fav is the Lamaze Jaque the Peacock. We hung him in the bassinet and she loved him (still does @ 7 months). We also always hung him on the carseat...that's where he lives now.
We have video of her at 3weeks old cooing @ Jaque...nobody believed us until we showed them! By 4 weeks she was reaching toward him! (she was 9 days late if that makes any difference).

Tummy time started the DAY we came home from the hospital.
Mobile was in the crib from day 1 and taken out at 6 months.
Reading, somewhere around 9 months.
