BTDT who warmed up DC formula bottle ... how did it go with cold milk ... help please

So i heated up DD formula bottle since i had no choice but to pre make them and keep them in the fridge ... (i regret heating them up simply becuase of the inconvience of it and i swear if i have another DC i wont be heating it up ) So i have switched her to milk and i am refusing to heat it up but she wont take it. I know its not cause she doesnt like the milk because i gave her one bottle warmed to just test it out and she drank it fine. Its been 3 days and she is barley drinking anything. I ask the dr and he said its ok cause i was afraid of dehydration.

Did anyone else go thru this? Did thier DC fiinally give in and take it?

Am i being really cruel? I feel bad cause she gets really excited to see the bottle drinks it and then stops once she realized its cold Chat Icon I just cant take warming bottles still. Especially since i want to move her to cups as soon as she is over the shock of cold bottles.

I will take any advice!!

My DS has sensory issues and would ONLY take the bottle at an exact temp. Room temp!
Too cold or hot and he refused. Plus, he can't take certain texture.
I feared giving him cold milk and amazingly he was ok with it.

DD was mostly BF, but when I pumped a bottle or later on, supplemented with formula, I always warmed it. When I started the transition to cow's milk, I started "weaning down" on the warming. I'd put it in the bottle warmer for less and less time every feeding. Now she'll take it right from fridge.

I am going through this right now. DS will be 16 months next week and we still warm his bottles.

This is mostly my mother's doing. She is old school Italian and doesn't believe in giving cold milk to babies. So his bottle has been warmed on the stove-top since day 1.

I had no problem while he was on formula. But now that he is on whole milk I wanted to get him use to it cold.

I've tried only warming it enough to take the chill out and those times I do that he tends to not finish his bottle or plays around with it.

He is so use to warm that cool is like when we give him water or juice - he walks around shaking it and playing with it more than drinking it.

I'd rather keep warming it so at least I know he'll drink it. Especially now that he is going through a picky eating stage and is barely eating anything healthy.

Re: BTDT who warmed up DC formula bottle ... how did it go with cold milk ... help please

Sorry..

I never had an issue I cut out the warm stuff REALLY early one. Went to room temp first then finally just out of the fridge.

To be fair it was a bit easier because mostly the going to cold time came around summer when its hot so a cool drink was nice.

I guess I would try gradual first.. go from warm to semi warm one day, the next move it to room temp for a few days then to out of the first a little while to cooler but not cold then to cold.

Good Luck!

Re: BTDT who warmed up DC formula bottle ... how did it go with cold milk ... help please

I've always warmed my DS' milk and still do at 27 months. Now it's just to take the chill off. It takes 5 minutes of waiting and no real extra effort from me. He never liked it cold, would spit it out. Who am I to make him like something just bc I think he should drink it cold. Not a battle worth fighting IMO. As for cups, warm it in a bottle, transfer to a cup.

I fed formula at room tempurature, but had to heat up milk bottles for both kids. The milk was just too cold for their mouths.

ugh i guess i can just warm it but what do you do when your out? Or you just dont give them milk then?

I kinda tried to slowly get her use to cold milk by heating up only the formula and then adding cold milk. But has it go more cold milk and less hot forumla she stop drnking it. Maybe i did it to quick and i should try again!

The reason why i dont think its to cold for her to handle is that she will drink water straight from the frindge cold. Dont get me wrong she wont chug it but she will drink it!!

My youngest never really had warmed formula, only room temperature but when we transitioned to milk, he flat out refuses it unless its at least room temperature..

My DD would NOT drink a bottle unless it was warm so naturally, when we went to cold milk she was pretty annoyed. I warmed her milk bottles until we dropped the bottles at like 15 months and went exclusively to sippy cups. She revolted for a few days with the cold milk in a sippy and wouldn't really drink anything but then she gave up and started drinking the cold milk with no problem.

I did the same. I still warm his morning bottle a little now that it is so cold out.

My DS takes it either way but I've been warming up the milk a bit - just a few seconds in the microwave to take the chill out - it's too cold out! I put it in my glass measuring cup and heat it that way... not that you're being cruel but it is really cold out. the few times i've given DS a bottle out of the fridge his lips were blue

Re: BTDT who warmed up DC formula bottle ... how did it go with cold milk ... help please

i pump for my girls and they take their bottles room temp or warm. we only warm the last bottle of the night. too much of a pain to warm all the time. when they are in the fridge before being eaten, I take them out to become room temp when they finish the feeding before
